Suspended

It has been 8 years, Hope and I are 15 years old, I am friends with Kaleb, MG, Lizzie, Josie, and Jeb. Hope only has me, Mom sees us on holidays and our birthday, dad hasn't answered the phone since we were 9. At first, I learned to lock up all the darkness, and slowly the school has taught me to use it for good, using little bits at a time. I am no longer afraid of the darkness or myself. Aunt Freya teaches Hope and me some spells as well. Uncle Kol and aunt Bex still talk to us on FaceTime. I had just gotten back to our room when there was a knock on the door I said "Come in." Mr. Williams walked in and Hope said "Mr. Williams. What's up?" she stood next to me and he said "Mr. Saltzman wants to see you. It's about Henry Benoit." Hope said, "Is, um, Mr. Saltzman calling my mom?" I said "What did you do?" he said "That, and he thinks your dad should know what you've been up to." I said "Yeah. Good luck finding him."

He said "Pack your bags, girls. You're going home." I glared at my sister and said "What the hell did you do?" she said "I may have given Henry two vials of my blood so he could change into a hybrid." my jaw dropped and I said "Are you out of your mind? This isn't gonna make dad love us again, in fact, because of this he may never want to come back." I shoved my shit into my bag and left the room, we sat outside the office, and Roman, Hope's ex-boyfriend also a vampire said "Later, dude. Are you both going somewhere?" Hope said "Home. I, uh, I got us both suspended." Roman chuckled and said "The Marshall twins got suspended? Cool." he walked away and Henry sat next to us and said, "Sorry I got you in trouble."

I said, "Oh no this one is all on Hope." Hope said "I said, "be discreet." What part of jumping out of a tower is discreet?" Henry said "I had to make sure it would work. If I only hurt myself, then I would've just healed." Hope said "Right. 'Cause, no one's ever died peacefully from sleeping pills." Henry said "I'm not a person things go right for. You ever seen a werewolf with no pecs who quotes E. E. Cummings? I can already tell I'm getting stronger. You know how good it will be not to have to take crap from anybody?" I said, "Oh hun your about to take crap from everyone because you are now 1 in 3 of the entire world." Hope said "She's right, you're a hybrid now. You may be able to defend yourself, but they'll only hate you for being different. I don't think that you thought this through, Henry." he said "You wouldn't understand." Hope said "Oh, really? Us? We wouldn't understand?"

Henry said "That's different. None of the students know you're Klaus Mikaelson's daughters." I said "No but thanks to you they might now." Hope said "I don't know why Lisina told you. You and I aren't even friends." Henry said "Your mom's our alpha. All the Crescent Wolves know." Hope said, "And so will everyone at school when they start asking how you survived a swan dive out of the memorial library." Henry said, "Your dad's not gonna kill me for getting you both suspended, is he?" I said "We wouldn't know. He can't bother to be a dad." mom came and got us and we drove 7 hours to New Orleans and she didn't say one word to either of us. Once back at home Hope said "Can you just yell at us already? Seven hours of hostile silence is punishment enough." I said "Whats this "us" thing? I don't even understand why im suspended since it was ALL your fault." 

Mom said "The whole point of sending you to that school and calling you both Ember and Hope Marshall was so that you wouldn't draw attention to yourself, to keep you safe. Why? Why did you do it? What could you have possibly needed the money for?" Hope said, "That's my business." Moms aid "And selling your blood is mine. You had no right." Hope said "You're being a hypocrite. You're the one that taught us our body, our choice. Well, my blood, my choice." mom said "You and your sister are not just anybody, Hope. Do you even understand what you have done?" Hope said "Henry came to me." mom said "And you should have said no. Hope, Henry was already a kid who was struggling to fit in, and now... he's gonna be only one of three hybrids in the world, and seen as a threat to everyone in the city. You have no idea what you've done. You cannot create something without taking responsibility for it."

Hope said "What are you gonna do? Ground me... a-and lock me up? I'll just whammy myself out, I am a witch." mom said "And I am your mother... Which means tomorrow I'm gonna have to clean up the mess you've made before it gets worse." Hope groaned and stormed up to her room, I said "You gonna tell me why I was suspended, or do I have to guess?" I had my arms crossed. Mom said, "Because, Hope messed up big time and we didn't want you at school in case some people get angry and try to hurt you." I said "Being a twin is fantastic..." I rolled my eyes "... she fucks up and I get suspended." I went to walk away and mom said "Em, we just want to protect you." I stopped on the stairs and said "When does that stop affecting my happiness?" and I walked to my room where Hope was on the phone with Uncle Kol. 

Uncle Kol said "Grounded? Can't ground a witch, let alone one of my two favorite nieces. Speaking of where is Emmy?" Hope said "That's what I said. Mom didn't think it was funny." I sat next to her and said "Hey Uncle Kol." Kol said "Hey Emmy. Hope I'm sure it will all blow over by Mardi Gras." Hope said "I... I didn't think it was such a big deal at the time, but now that it's stirred up so much trouble I-I feel kind of bad." Kol said "Darling, you can't get your knickers in a knot every time you have a little kerfuffle. You'll never have a moment of pleasure. And I, for one, thought you showed some real entrepreneurial spirit." I said, "Oh yeah encourage she who got me suspended for nothing." Hope said "Yeah, that's me, your friendly, neighborhood blood dealer. And Em im sorry you also got suspended." 

Kol said, "I'm sure you've noticed by now the best people are black sheep." I said, "Like our dad?" Kol said "I was referring to me. Niklaus is in a league of his own." Hope said, "Seen him lately?" Kol said "Well, thankfully for you two, no. Don't worry. Sooner or later, something will blow up in New Orleans. Some crisis or other always brings us back." I said, "Don't give her any ideas, I not only get in trouble by myself but also by her hand." Hope smacked my thigh and said "Okay." she hung up and I said "Hope what is the money for? You wouldn't sell your blood for no reason." She sighed and said, "You and I are going to see dad." I said, "Are we gonna invite the whole damn Hollow back to the party too?" I walked out of the room and sat in the courtyard reading a text in our friend group chat.
