"I thank you all for attending and being complete this meeting."
Officer Kim enters the office, closing the door behind him. Basically, everyone in the team is present because Dongyoung set up a meeting. Of course, this meeting is about the prostitution case that he kept on investigating. This has to be one of my most dangerous missions...
Or this might be the MOST dangerous one.
"This is about the prostitution case from ten years ago."
This case was from ten years ago? I didn't know that! Was that why Dongyoung was very concerned with this horrid case?
"You may be wondering why I re-opened the investigation of this ten-year case and it's because my sister was taken away by this infamous business."
He says, causing the rest of us to take a deep breath. It must've been hard for him to lose a sister, considering in that way. I can never imagine losing my brother Minhyung in that way.
I can never imagine losing him in general.
"I don't know if she's still alive, considering the many things that might've happened to her... I've been an officer for four years already but this year, I was given a chance to finally patch up the missing piece of this particular issue."
Dongyoung chokes out, clearing his throat as he wipes the tears away.
"Right so... That's why I'm continuing this because the... uh... the children there are being raped... slain... by the head, who is Alejandro Diaz. We need to save them... One of those kids is now an inmate here."
A lot of the officers gasped at what he revealed as they didn't know that it was the new inmate... That it was Taeyong.
"From what I've observed, he's very damaged and lonely. He was voiceless and he looked unhealthy thin... He felt scared most of the time. He thought that everyone hated him for what he did to his victims. Obviously, he was a murderer."
He shrugs, taking another deep breath before he continues.
"He had a lot of mental disorders, according to what our resident psychiatrist told me... However, because of his assigned officer who always looked after him, who never gave up on him, and who always understood his perspective... He made so much progress compared to the other inmates who also had mental disorders."
He gives everyone a convincing nod, a smile shown on his face that only reflected nothing but hope.
"This is a reminder that anyone can be a victim of a very inhumane crime. Imagine what he had gone through because of that illegal business. Put yourselves in his shoes and see how you'd view the world without anyone knowing what you've gone through... Isn't it depressing?"
Dongyoung was definitely right about that. Taeyong's life is actually just depressing and he was like a kid. I'm not technically sure how old he was when he got into that business but I do know he's probably in the age of ten to twelve. Just imagine being finally able to step out of that relationship you never wanted but still live with the fear of it happening again every single day. It's shitty because no one should ever go through that.
Jungwoo's phone suddenly rings as he puts the phone in silent mode, not wanting to disturb anyone. What scared me the most was that the call was coming from an unknown number.
"Hey, I don't think you should pick that up."
"... Or maybe I should?"He suggests, causing me to widen my eyes.
