Chapter 22: A roller coaster ride of emotions

 

 

 

Why isn’t he answering any of my calls? Sapo ang noo na nagpalakad-lakad ako habang sinusubukan pa rin na tawagan si Inaki. Is it happening again? Nagsawa na ba siya?

“You’re making my head spin. Can you please sit down, Raigne?”

“He’s not answering his phone, Jill.” I said, close to panicking. Tumingin ako sa dalawa na parehong nakapangalumbaba habang pinapanood ako.

“He’s busy, remember?” Said Sandy.

“Too busy to even send a message? Kahit mag isa lang? Kahapon pa siya dumating from Australia! But until now he hasn’t called me yet. Ano to? Wala na naman kami?”

“Will you please sit down? Hindi ka lang natawagan, wala na kayo agad? Hindi ba pwedeng busy lang yung tao? You know how busy he can get sometimes. Stop being so negative, my dear.” Jill said.

I bit my lower lip. “He had done this to me before.” I said above whisper as I sat down.

Sandy stood up in front of me and held my shoulders. “Listen to me, okay? Hindi ka pa naman sure kung nakauwi na ba talaga siya eh. Baka talagang busy lang siya. Jill is right, you’re being too negative.”

“Kasi nga he had done this to me before. Hindi malabong gawin niya ulit.”

“You don’t trust him then?”

Napatingin ako kay Jill. “I-I do. I trust him.”

“You hesitated.”

“I trust him, okay? I do.” I breathed out harshly.

“Raigne, not because he had done it to you before, he’d do it again. Have more faith in him. Mahal mo, diba?”

Sandy smirked. “Wow. You’re siding with Inaki now, Jill?”

She rolled her eyes. “Whatever.”

Bahagya akong napangiti. Pero bakit ganon? Hindi ko pa rin maalis sa isip ko na baka bigla na naman niya akong iwan. Maybe Sandy and Jill are right, I am being way too negative. He won’t leave me again, will he?

I can’t stand this anymore. Bakit hindi pa rin niya ako tinatawagan? I picked up my phone and dialled Vash’s number.

(Hello?)

“Hey Vash.”

(What’s up?)

I cleared my throat. “N-nakabalik na kayo, diba?”

(Yup! Three days ago pa. Why?)

I shut my eyes tightly and took a deep breath. Three days. They came back three days ago and yet I still haven’t got a call from Inaki. Tama ba ang mga iniisip ko? Doubt suddenly filled me.

“Three days... really? You guys are probably too b-busy, right?”

(Yeah, you can say that. Our schedule is crazy.) I breathed out in relief. See, Raigne? You were just being too negative. I’ve no reason to doubt him. (Kaya nga naisip nila na kailangan din namin ng pahinga kaya eto, I’m enjoying our vacation.)

“W-what? Vacation? Kelan pa?”

(Yesterday. They gave us a week to rest and pretty much do whatever we want.)
