Chapter 46: Shady past

It's been three days since I last saw Inaki. He did not call on the day that he said he would either. I huffed in annoyance and plopped down on my bed. I groaned and called Missy. Sa kanya ko lang nalaman na nasa Cebu pala ang Magnetic. Hudyo talaga ang lalaking iyon! Hindi man lang sinabi sa akin na aalis pala siya.

(Didn't Inaki tell you?) tanong pa ni Missy.

"Uhm, he probably forgot."

(Yeah, probably. Don't worry, ngayon naman ang balik nila.)

"Kapag talaga ako napikon mo ng sobra, Luis Inaki, I will take off this ring," I muttered angrily as I glanced at my ring.

After talking to Missy, I took a shower and prepared, I went to Inaki's unit. Kahit naiinis ako sa kanya ay di ko naman siya matiis. Before dinner ay nandito na sigurado iyon. I cooked his favorite kare-kare. I was already setting the table when I heard the doorbell.

Who could it be? Tiningnan ko muna sa peephole bago ko binuksan ang pinto. Tumambad sa akin ang isang sopistikada at magandang ginang. I smiled at her.

"Yes?"

She looked surprised to see me, but she still smiled a bit. "Hello. Is Inaki there?"

"Uhm, may I know your name, ma'am?"

"I'm Kriselda. Inaki's mother."

I gasped. I should've guessed! Inaki looks so much like his mom! Para siyang girl version ni Inaki pag tumanda na.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Pasok po kayo." Niluwagan ko ang pinto. "Inaki is not yet home po. But I'm sure he's already on his way."

I noticed that she seemed hesitant to come inside. Sinamahan ko siya sa sala.

"Are you my son's girlfriend?"

I smiled shyly. "I'm Raigne, his fiancee po."

She seemed genuinely happy upon hearing that. "Oh. Congratulations."

"Thank you po." I gasped upon remembering that I haven't offered her anything yet. "Oh gosh. Ano po pala ang gusto niyo?"

"Don't bother, hija. I won't stay long anyway."

But I did not listen. I went to the kitchen to make her juice. Pabalik na 'ko sa sala ng bumukas ang pinto at pumasok si Inaki na mukhang nasorpresa na makita ako.

"Beb?"

"Hi."

His face lightened up. Basta na lang niya binitawan ang gamit sa sahig at lumakad palapit sa akin. He pulled me in his arms and kissed me. I almost dropped the glass of juice I was holding. Inilapag ko muna iyon sa mesa.

"I missed you."

I pursed my lips. "You missed me? You did not call nor text me for three days!"

"Sorry. I got so busy. Wag ka ng magtampo." He cupped my face and pecked my lips many times.

Nawalang parang bula ang hinampo ko sa kanya. Humiwalay lang ako sa kanya ng maalala ko ang mommy niya na nag-hihintay sa sala.

"Beb, you have a visitor."

Tumaas ang mga kilay niya. "Who?"

Before I could even answer, his mom showed up. She looked rather teary-eyed as she was staring at Inaki's face. "Inaki, anak."
