After Nathan had left on the river court after telling his two half siblings that he was quitting basketball and left them reeling as they all knew that this was something that Dan wouldn't stand for, Alex however knew this was the first big stance against the man who raised him as something told her that was the beginning of something bigger. Since it was the weekend, they all had to wait a few days before the big news hit the school as Alex tried to focus her mind on other things like the fact that she had agreed to cover Haley's shifts in the cafe so she could be with Nathan since she knew that he needed her right now. However that meant that Alex had to start super early in the café in order to bake everything they would need for that day before the café actually opened so by the time that lunchtime came around Alex was more than ready to be done with her day. She was busy cleaning a table when she heard the door open causing to turn around to see the one person who could put a smile on her face

" hey beautiful" AJ said as he walked into the café as his eyes immediately fell on the dark blonde fray had stolen his heart as he walked over to her and kissed her causing Alex to temporarily abandon her work
" hey back... you here on here business or pleasure?" Alex said wondering if he had time to hang out while she worked or if he was still working his shift at the garage as she knew that he brightened her day up
" business unfortunately, Keith sent me over with the lunch order" AJ said handing her the piece of paper with the garages lunch order as she headed back behind the counter as she looked it over
" when do you finish?" Alex said knowing that she was slowly running on empty as she began to prepare everything that her uncle had order for lunch like the sandwiches and coffees
" in an hour, what about you?" AJ said as he studied her face noticing how tired she looked as he knew that going between the two family business and basketball practice was taking it's toll on her
" same, want to do something when we're done? We could go to my place, Lucas is out with either Brooke or Peyton and my uncle will still be at work" Alex said knowing time alone with AJ sounded perfect
" yeah, sure.... hey are you okay? You look pale and tired" AJ said as he gently cupped her face as he smiled at the way she leaned into his touch as he took in her cute but simple outfit and her updo with a pink hair band
" wow, that's such a nice a thing to say to your girlfriend. Did you read an article or something?" Alex said rolling her eyes as she put his order into a brown paper bag as she wondered if he actually heard himself
" you know what I mean, I think you look beautiful no matter what but still" AJ said worrying about her as he could see the familiar signs of tiredness in her eyes that he was used to seeing in his brother
