Fix the sky

It has been a long time since his morning have been this good. He had managed to get a good night sleep and hade even managed to get some work done before the rest of the base wakes up, or at least the majority of the base. He knows there are quite a few people in this building that do wake up at the crack of dawn. May being one of them.

He had managed to finish up the work he had started on the night before, and since he was left alone in the lab for so long, he has even managed to work on his and Tony's project without having people question him on what he was doing, leading to him figuring out one of their problems and fixing it. He knows he should probably call and tell Tony about it when he did but knowing that the man has the worst sleep habit he has ever come across, he decides it would just be better to call him later.

He had plans to call Skye later this day too, another person he wouldn't be able to call early in the mornings. At some point Leo had started to question if this works is worth it, with how much its workers are suffering. Everyone around him is having their share package of problems, scars that would have completely destroy a person.

He had always known May have a lot of scars, he had heard many stories about her and Coulson's time in the organization. He had also seen how much she had put into protecting them all when they had lived on the bus. So, he had not been all too worried when she found out about Skye, he knew she would be there, protecting her like she has always done. He had however not thought she would go to the extra level of protection that she had done.

To make sure the Avengers are put as her protectors, that had been a move neither him nor Skye would have ever seen coming. And the fact that she has kept all this quiet from Coulson, another move that still surprises him. As far as he knows, she tells him everything that is going on. For her keeping quiet about all of this is far beyond him. When he had asked her about it, she had told him it is all up to Skye if he and the other should know or not.

"You are up early, unable to sleep?"

Being pulled back to reality, Leo turns towards the door to the lab to see Jemma standing there. He had not realized the time or the fact that someone has managed to walk in. Looking at his long-time partner, he's quite happy they have managed to find their way back to the friendship they have had, it's still not what it used to be, but at least they are closer now than after the accident. He just wished Skye had been here when it all happened.

He has come to realize that he has been wishing for his sister to be around in the base more often recently. Ever since he had learned that she had been cleared to return to work properly, he has wanted her to return, just so they could go back to how things had once been properly. Deep down however, Leo knows that things will never go back to what it has once was, but in all of this, something else have managed to grow.

"I woke up early, decided to take the chance to start working when the lab is still empty. Managed to finish up a few of the things I have started."

He answers her, nodding his head towards the table where a few of his new inventions are placed. Not all of them fully done yet, but at least they are close to the finish now. Seeing how Jemma moves towards the table, he can't help but to feel slightly worried over what she will think. This have been a returning feeling ever since she had returned, no, it has been there even before she had left for her undercover mission within HYDRA.

He's still surprised she had managed to last as long as she had during that mission, Skye is right about one thing, her lying is a nightmare. At least Bobbi had been there when it had all gone down, and after that, Skye have needed him just as much as he had still needed her.

"These looks amazing!"

Being pulled back into reality once more, Leo turns his head towards Jemma once more. She was holding the newest version of his I.C.E.R gun. Smiling slightly, he really must remember to thank Stark when he talks to him later, him and Dr Banner have helped him a lot on making the weapon even better. It all started when Skye had pulled the older version out and target Stark the last time, he had been over to check up on her.

Stark had been mocking the gun the moment he had seen it, calling it a child's toy. Within seconds he was on the floor, the blue veins showing. Remembering how Clint is laying on the floor the next second, laughing hard at what had just gone down. How his laugher has triggered the others, Maria and Skye leaning on one another for support. Natasha was just shaking her head, a big smile on her lips as she tries and fails to help her partner from the floor.

"Good! You two are up, breakfast is almost ready!"

Trip says as he shows up at the door opening, making Leo and Jemma turn to look at him. Nodding his head, Leo rises from his seat, making sure his computer is properly turned off before taking his phone with him. He was going to make sure no one saw what he is really working on. Following their friend and co-agent, they reach the common room to a calm and collected atmosphere. Coulson doing the last on the breakfast.

The calm and quiet didn't last long, Mack had been the first one to enter and from the look in his face, Leo knew what is following him. Barely half a minute later, Bobbi and Hunter enter the common room, already arguing with one another. It was clear to everyone except themselves that they were hooking up, acting out like this only confirmed it.

Yet, he can't help but to join in on the laughter. It reminds him of the moments he has spent within the Avengers tower and having that around in the base had been a lot of help since Skye wasn't here.

"I see some things haven't change."

Hearing her voice made him freeze up slightly. Turning his head to the side, his eyes lands on his sister. A sister that has suddenly gone through a whole new transformation. Truth be told, he like it. The shorter hairstyle and the purple really fit her. Without thinking about the others, Leo finds himself sprinting towards Skye, throwing himself around her in a tight hug, a hug she happily returns.

"I love your hair."

He whispers, a sense of over joy at having his sister back with him. There's however a feeling he can't shake, a feeling that something bad is about to go down.
