XIII - Karasuno vs. Aoba Jousai

Eichi's POV

It was the second day of the Inter-high, and I didn't bother with getting Shigatsu to watch today. Today was the day Karasuno and Aoba Jousai were going to go against each other. Besides, she didn't look very well yesterday, after the whole thing with Oikawa.

I arrive at the Sendai City Gymnasium. Clutching the strap of my shoulder bag, I walk to the bleachers.

I check my phone, still no text from Shi-chan. I hope she is doing okay. Then again, she might have some practice today. After all, her competitions are coming up as well. I know she'd do great.

Narrator POV

The match has started, and Eichi is a bit conflicted about which team she'd cheer. Naturally, she should cheer on Aoba Jousai but still wanted to cheer for Tobio and the rest of Karasuno. So, she decided that she'd cheer every time each team made a point.

"Oika-chan! Nice!!" She cheered as Tooru scored two points for Seijoh. Tobio noticed she was in the stands and immediately thought of something. When it was Issei's turn to serve, Tobio planned that he'd do an unforeseen setter dump.

When Tobio did the dump, EVERYONE was shocked, his teammates, the spectators, Seijoh's team, and even Eichi in the stands, but she stood up and cheered for him. "Kage-kun! Nice one!!", Tobio hears and internally smiles at her cheer. He found it cute and heartwarming. He then shakes his head and goes, 'Stop! I need to focus on the match. I can't have our team losing,' He thinks.

Eichi shivers in her seat as the match continues, barely watching anymore because she couldn't take the pressure. She favored both teams and didn't want either to lose. She audibly gasped when Tobio fell on the floor after the ball push. While Tooru smirked at Tobio's fall, he thought, 'I'm going to impress Ei-chan so much she'll forget about you aaand I'll win this match at the same time!'

'Ahh, Kage-kun seems to be having a hard time,' Eichi sadly thinks.

"HUWA!! Shi-chan would've loved to see that block Hinata-kun!!" Eichi shouts, which Shoyo hears and smiles at Eichi. 'oh, I should text Shi-chan that Hinata-kun did a lot of good blocks today,' she thought and took out her phone to text her friend.

Really?? Is the game done yet? I'm still wrapping up from practice!

Nope, you're not too late! If you leave now, you'd probably make it! They've just started the second set!

Eichi then switches her phone off and continues watching the game.

She giggles when she sees Tobio try to smile for the team, it doesn't look too good like Koshi's, but it still cheered up the team.

When the score was 24-23, Shigatsu runs into the gymnasium. Panting, she was worried if she had missed the match, but luckily for her, it was still ongoing.

Although to her dismay, when she looked at what was happening with the fight. Her eyes immediately land on who's serving, Tooru. Immediately sets her off, and she thinks of going back to training.

Then Shigatsu's phone goes off.

Okayy! I'll be there in a second

"Oowah! Tsu!!" said Shoyo, hoping Shigatsu hears him. Shigatsu's head goes in the direction of his voice, and he waves at the girl. Shigatsu waves back with a smile, "You can do this!" She says to Shoyo, giving him two thumbs up. Then she goes to Eichi, who was waiting for her in the stands.

"I hope Karasuno receives the serve of that devil," Shigatsu says with an eye-roll.

"Hey! You jinxed it! Nishinoya-kun received Oika-chan's serve!" said Eichi, but Shigatsu beat her to it. She stood up and cheered for Yuu.

"Karasuno won! Karasuno won the second set!!" said Shigatsu to Eichi as she shook the poor girl. "Y-you know, you need to stop shaking me when the team you favor wins," said Eichi as she released herself from Shigatsu's grip and straightened herself.

While the girls are messing with each other on the stands, where Tooru was, he could see that Shigatsu had come to the match. But he could also see Shoyo on his phone.

When he looked back at the girls, he noticed Shigatsu was also on her phone, 'coincidence? I think not,' he thought. But moreover, he saw Eichi wave at Tobio, and Tobio returned it. 'What is with Tobio-chan that Ei-chan likes him so much?' he thought.

It was now the final set. Shigatsu feels like her vocal cords have been ripped out due to excessive cheering for Shoyo. Eichi chuckles and then says, "Stop cheering Shi-chan, or else you won't be able to talk to Shoyo after the match!". Shigatsu immediately stops and drinks some water.

"I can barely watch this! The pressure is so overwhelming I can't imagine how bad it must be for the actual players!" says Shigatsu while pulling out her hair. "By actual players, you mean Hinata-kun, right?" Eichi snickers.

"Shut up, anyways, how are you?" Shigatsu says, changing the subject. "Other than the sadness I'm getting for the team that loses, I'm okay," Eichi shrugs. "You mean the sadness for the SETTER of the team, right?" Shigatsu teased.

"What's that supposed to mean??" Eichi said out loud. "WELL, I'm just saying! You like Kageyama-kun and Oikawa, don't you?" Shigatsu teased Eichi more. "What no! OH my gosh, you are sick in the head," Eichi protested.

"They lost." Shigatsu kept mumbling to herself over and over again. "Hey, hey, don't get so hard on yourself, Shi," Eichi said, patting her back. "But they lost! Imagine how they feel!" "I know, but the best you could do is be strong for them. Imagine what Hinata-kun would feel if he saw you cry because of him," Shigatsu stares at her best friend, nods, and wipes the tears at the corner of her eyes. "But best we leave them alone, let's also try to comfort them, but don't overdo it. It might make it worse," Shigatsu says, Eichi nods, and they leave the bleachers.

"Iwa-chan, Oika-chan, good game!" said Eichi with a soft smile. "You guys did absolutely amazing!" She said to the whole team. "You guys did great!" Shigatsu says with a small smile to the team. Still, avoiding the team's setter. "We still have another match, but I'll catch up with the both of you later!" Said Hajime as he ran to the court.

While waiting for Seijoh's match to be finished, Shigatsu restlessly fidgeted with her phone. "What's wrong?" says Eichi, concerned at how quiet and squirmish Shigatsu was. "Oh, nothing, I just need to go to the bathroom." She replies. "Oh, okay, I'll wait here,"

Shigatsu goes to the bathroom, where she encounters Shoyo. "Kya! Gomenasai!" She apologizes as she bumped into a small figure because of zoning out too much.

"o-oh, Shoyo," she mutters as she recognizes the person. Shoyo stares a bit at the girl and pulls her in for a hug. "Stay like this for a bit?" he proposes. Shigatsu gives him a short nod and hugs him back, giving him soft pats on the back.
