Just Another Girl [On Hiatus]

XI - To the Inter-high

Kanae Eichi's POV

Everyone was so busy, Shi-chan, Oika-chan, Iwa-chan. Even I knew Kageyama-kun and Hinata-kun were busy. Knowing they are also part of the Inter-high Miyagi prelims.

Today was the day that the boys were going to the competition. I woke up early so I can see them off. Looking at my wall clock, the time read 6:00 am. I quickly got up and wore casual but presentable clothes. Jogging to Shi-chan's house to bug her and get her to come with me to see the boys' game.

As soon as I got there I wondered why the lights were on. I knocked on the door lightly not to abruptly wake somebody up. I even took my phone out to text her. As soon as I send the text, the door opens to reveal a formally dressed Mrs. Hinode putting on her earrings. "Ah, Hinode-san ohayo gozaimasu," I greeted and bowed. "Ah! Kanae-chan! Ohayo gozaimasu! Are you here for Shi-chan?" she greeted and asked me. "Yes, is she awake?" I politely inquired. "Oh! you just missed her! She went up and going at around 4 and left the house around 5," Hinode-san explained. "Oh, is that the case? Has she told you where she was going Hinode-san?" "Actually yes, she went to the skating gym, you will probably find her there,"

I quickly bowed and said my thanks and left to go to the skating gym.

"Shi-chan!!!!!" I barged into the gym and shouted loud enough.

I go further inside reaching the ice rink and there she was. Very focused on practice, gliding along the ice, she looked ethereal. She seemed like a very different person when she's on the rink. Have you heard her corny jokes and her abnormal laugh?! But that's what makes Shi-chan, Shi-chan so I love every single imperfection about her. It's what makes her perfect in my eyes.

I just looked back onto the rink and was shocked to see Shi-chan was already in front of me. Was I spacing out that hard?

"Oh hey," I awkwardly spat. "What brings you here? It's so early by this time you would still be drooling under the covers at your house," she joked. "Hey, hey, not fair! You are the one SO hard to wake up! Like I don't know how to wake you up without getting hit!" I challenged. We burst out laughing.

"Seriously though why are you here?" She asked more seriously this time. "Shi-chan," I started "Let's go watch the boys' game today," I requested. "hmm, sure why not? what time?" "Around 9 or 10 is the actual game but they'll be there by 7," She nodded her head and skated over to a duffel bag on one side of the rink.

"Okayy you can wait outside I'll just change my shoes and clean up in here, it won't take long," She shouted from the other side of the rink. "Okayy be quick!" I shouted back and waited outside.

Shi-chan exited the gym not shortly after and then she straightened her jacket. "Let's go?" I asked, she nodded, and then we went to the stadium.

Panting after we thought we were late, we saw Oikawa getting presents from numerous girls as we were about to approach him a ball suddenly came out of nowhere and hit Oikawa on the back of his head.

Shi-chan immediately just had to laugh her head off. "PFFHAHAHAHHAHAHHA TRASHYKAWA GOT HIT AGAIN,"

"OUCH!! I've never been hit before even by my coach!" Oikawa looked at who hit him, it was Iwa with a flaming annoyed expression.

Oikawa immediately turned to the girls and said that the picture would just need to be taken next time.

Before they could enter, we went and called after them.

"Iwa, Oika!" I shout, they immediately look and Iwa gave me a short hug, "Here to watch us?" asked Oika. "Well, duh, what else are we going to do here?" I asked sarcastically "I dunno, maybe he thinks we're going to ice skate or something," Shi-chan snapped and went inside on her own.

"h-hey Shi-chan, not so fast wait for me!" I looked back at the two and waved and ran inside.

"Oi, what was that?" I asked panting

"ahahaha nothing, come on I see the rest of the volleyball club over there," and she pointed to the bleachers where Mattsun and the others were visibly sitting down.

"Oya? it's Karasuno!" I said excitedly. Even Shi-chan squealed. "So what? you guys are from Aoba Johsai, let's go hm?" said Oikawa from behind the both of us which startled me, we both got dragged by Oikawa but Shi-chan kept hitting him saying "Oi! Oi! I can walk by myself get your hands off me!"

"AAA Shoyo!!!" Shi-chan cheered when Hinata spiked the ball.

"oi, Hinode, that's Karasuno your cheering for," scolded Shigeru

"why? is something wrong, it's not like you guys are playing against them right now," she complained and took Shigeru by surprise

"Yeah but either way, you would still cheer for chibi-chan even if we were playing against them right now," snapped Oikawa. Shi-chan glared at him and slumped in her seat. I nudged Oikawa and gave him a mad look.

"What? I was just stating the truth!" he shouted, "oi, oi what the hell are you blabbering about," said an angry Makki at the back. "Nothing, sorry Makki-san," I apologized and nudged Oikawa to shut him up.

"AAAA congratulations Shoyooo!!" Shi-chan congratulated Hinata after they won their first match. Then the libero and his friend went to talk with Shi-chan as well.

"Congrats! You already won your first match!" I said to Kageyama-kun and handed him some milk I bought for him.

"Arigato Kanae-san," he sheepishly accepted the milk and bowed. I smiled to myself.

"I think you should help your friend," he pointed to Shi-chan who was being bombarded with questions from the libero and the wing spiker.

"Nah, let her be, she can handle herself," I said giggling lightly

"OI! Stop that!" shouted Karasuno's captain to the wing spiker and libero that was bothering Shi-chan. I just looked at Kageyama and then told him, "You know, you should get going and rest if I'm not mistaken you guys still have a match later this afternoon," he nodded

"hai, I should get going then, take care Eichi-san!" he waved and dragged Hinata with him, with Hinata shouting goodbye and that he would see Shi-chan later. Shi-chan shouted back as well, "Have a good rest Shoyo! I'll see you!" then she walked over to me,

"You hungry?" I asked, she nodded.
