VII - Coffee Box

Kanae Eichi's POV

Shi-chan is calling...

I picked up

"What do you want?" I asked lazily since I just woke up

"Just checking if you were still alive. Oikawa-san said you weren't answering his texts"

"Oika-chan? You talk to him?"

"What! No! He just texted me and then asked if you were with me and.. and if you were okay.."

"Oh okay. Yeah I'm fine thanks for calling and checking on me"

"No problem! I'll just go and bathe Luna now, byeee!"

"Okay, byee! Say hi to Luna for me"

Then I ended the call.

At school the next day...

I can hear whispers again. But this time, it wasn't about me. The students were minding their own business for once.

Doing their own thing, was so normal. I like it.

I entered the classroom and saw Shi-chan playing on her phone as usual.

I sat beside her.

"Hey did you know, there's a rumor going around school that we have a school trip?"

"Woah! Really?"

"I think some students heard teachers talking about it. Not sure if it's true or just some fake news again"

"I'd want to go on a school trip! That'd be fun!"

The day went on like it was supposed to. Not anything out of the ordinary.

After school, I received a text from Kageyama-kun.

Hi Kanae-san! Do you want to meet up?

Oh! Definitely!

Great! We can meet at Coffee Box, at around 10am on Saturday, if that's okay with you

Yeah! That's a great time.

Okay! See you then Kanae-san!

I put my phone in the pocket of my blazer. Smiling, I went to find Shi-chan.

"Shi-chaaaannnnn~!"

"Eh? Nani?" She asked

"Will you come with me on Saturday? I'm meeting Karasuno's genius setter,"

"Hmmm...okay! I'll be bringing Luna though"

"Yeah, sure! That's no problem at all"

"Great!" She said and laid her head down on her table, I think she was going to sleep.

Saturday

I put my house keys in the pocket of my coat. It was quite cold that day.

I walked to Shi-chan's house. I knocked on her door.

"Coming!!" She shouted and I heard some fumbling inside.

She was wearing a coat as well and Luna was wearing some clothes too.

She had Luna on a leash. She locked her house door and we walked to Coffee Box.

Shi-chan sighed.

"It's quite cold today," she said.

"Yeah, I'm pretty excited, but nervous to meet him. You know... to ask how he knows me"

"Hmm, yeah oh-!" She abruptly stopped walking because Luna, stopped walking and instead she started to try and climb Shi-chan's leg.

Shi-chan took this as a sign and carried Luna. Then we walked to Coffee Box.

Coffee Box was a small but popular coffee shop around our town.

We went inside. But, sadly Luna wasn't allowed inside.

So, Shi-chan had to wait outside.

"Oh no... I'm really sorry about this. I can just tell Kageyama-kun to go to another place"

"Oh no no no, It's okay, I can wait outside," she replied with a smile

"Are you sure? I can just-"

"It's okay, you don't need to worry" she replied again

"Okay... I know! I'll just get you your favorite hot coffee," I replied so that she won't get cold while waiting outside.

I didn't wait for her reply and ordered drinks for me and her.

I looked outside and saw her sitting on the bench outside. Kageyama-kun wasn't here yet. Once our order was done, I placed mine on a table, and grabbed Shi-chan's coffee, and gave it to her outside.

I also just sat beside her. To keep her company while Kageyama-kun hasn't arrived yet.

I checked my phone and it was already 9:50 am.

"I'm really sorry about dragging you here and making you wait outside", I apologized again, because I really felt bad for bringing her here and make her wait outside.

"Stop apologizing! I already told you, I'm okay out here, and besides, I got a free drink!" She said and showed me her coffee cup.

I jokingly rolled my eyes and we laughed.

Then we saw Kageyama-kun walking towards the Coffee Box.

"Kageyama-kun!" I said excitedly

"Oh, Kanae-san, Ohayo Gozaimasu" he said as he bowed

"Ohayo Gozaimasu" I bowed as well

When I stood straight, I saw orange behind him.

"OHAYO GOZAIMASU!" said an orange fluff, as he also bowed.

"Don't scare her by being so loud BOKE!"

"Ohayo gozaimasu" I greeted and bowed back

"Shall we go inside?" He asked

"S-sure," I said I waved bye to Shi-chan, then Kageyama-kun opened the door, and we both walked inside.

He sat and the walking orange fluff followed him. It was a boy! I sat opposite of both of them. Then I quickly forgot that I left my drink outside.
