Dear Future Maxxie from the year 2056,

I'm here to talk to you (my darling future self) about the current atrocious conditions of writers. I hope you'll understand how I feel, because, you're me, after all! The way they write . . . it's terrible! They use adjectives! Double-check their spellings! Use metaphors, similes! Have interesting plots! What a tragedy!

Now, let me go in-depth.

First of all, they actually use those evil things—adjectives and metaphors and similes! Everyone knows that descriptions aren't supposed to be used at all! Because, with them, the reader can picture the scene! Why would you want that? It makes the book enjoyable! Ugh, I can't believe I used such a bad word as enjoyable in this letter. Oh, I used it again! The horror of horrors!

Furthermore, as time goes on, their writing becomes more correct! Good grammar! Correct spellings! They're open to advice, and listen to people's constructive and nice advice! Have we, as a civilisation, really become so barbaric that we listen to other people? And think that any opinion but our own can be right? And that we must not argue just because we can argue?

And, the writers are gaining creativity! Thankfully, there are still some plagiarisers and thieves stealing works (because what would a world without stealing stuff be?), otherwise I would lose faith in the boredom of the world! So many writers have their own ideas! This is preposterous! No one is allowed to have freedom of thought! We're supposed to be good sheep, following the leaders and just doing what everyone else does!

Bah. I would list more such . . . such . . . dastardly things, but I think my head might explode by how much the world is advancing. No! The world is not supposed to advance.

Hoping the future is better,
The Maxxie of 2021.
