"Just what the hell do you think you're doing?" I ask walking into the Mikaelson compound

"Just what the hell do you think you're doing?" I ask walking into the Mikaelson compound.

"I lead a very busy life, my dear. You're going to have to be more specific." Klaus smirks.

I walk closer and cross my arms over my chest.

"Tell me where Davina is."

"Ahh, so that's why you're here. I'm afraid that I don't know where she is." The proud smile never leaves his face as he pours himself a drink. "You know, I don't quite understand the two of you as best friends. The whole witch versus vampire thing."

"Can you cut the bullshit? I just want my friend back." I plead with him.

"I would if it could in all honesty. I don't have her anymore, I traded her for the protection of my daughter?" He finally seems for serious since mentioning the threat to his daughter.

"You did what? To who?"

"My mother."

I take the drink out of his hand and gulp it down. You've got to be kidding me, his mother? This is so fucked up.

"Where is she?" I hand Klaus his glass back.

"I don't know."

I turn to leave the compound at his words. If he's no longer a help I don't have a reason to be here. I take off in a sprint for the cemetery. I can hear the whispers of chanting and maybe I should have thought this through a little more. The oldest witch of all time against a vampire who isn't even a hundred yet.

"I thought you might need some help." Klaus surprises me when he appears to my right. "I also thought that we could spend some more time together."

"Is that before or after you get my best friend killed?"

I roll my eyes. Of course he doesn't want to fix the problem her created instead he has his own intentions. Klaus has been after me since he came back to town all those months ago. Thankfully I have strong will and never stooped to his flirtations.

I charge forward and go into the mausoleum where I can hear Esther and Davina. Esther seems to be reciting some spell and by Davina's screams it doesn't sound like a good one.

I push Esther against the wall taking her by surprise.

"Run, Davina!" I scream.

She takes off in a sprint but unfortunately doesn't get far. Esther does a silent spell that gives me a mind-splitting headache. I drop to the ground clutching my head.

Davina is halted and brought back to the circle for the spell.

"What do you want from her?" I mutter, still holding onto my head.

"You wouldn't understand." Esther claims.

"Wow, you're even more entitled than your son. Congratulations."

Klaus decides to make his grand entrance now.

"Dearest Mother, are you hurting my little vamp?" Klaus asks, referring to me.

"This doesn't concern you, Niklaus." She spits with venom.

"This is my city, everything concerns me." Klaus retorts.

"We had a deal!" Esther yells. "I can take out Davina and your vampire if I have to."

Klaus doesn't even bat an eye at her threat.

"Ancestors, unless you want me going on a century long bender I suggest you stop fueling my mother. I promise to kill every witch that resides in this city. Beyond that, I won't stop until there's extinction."

As soon as those words leave Klaus' mouth the pain in my head stops. Esther no longer has powers and she is gone quickly before we can do anything to her. I take a deep breath and Klaus offers me a hand to get up. I take it and quickly walk over to Davina.

"Are you okay?"

She rushes into my arms for a hug. I think by her heavy breathing that she's crying. I look over her shoulder to see Klaus just smiling softly at me. I mouth him a thank you and he nods before vamping away quickly.

I take Davina back to my apartment so she can feel a bit more safe. It's actually in her name so no one can get in that she doesn't want there anyway.

"Are you sure you're feeling better?" I ask.

"I'm sure! I was just a little shaken up but I'm fine now. Thank you for coming to my rescue." She smiles.

"Anytime."

I wait until she falls asleep to leave the apartment. I head over to the compound to find Klaus standing on his balcony looking out at the city.

"Thank you for today." I say, he doesn't even turn because he knew I was there, "Even though you were the one who risked her life in the first place."

He nods his head with a knowing smile. I walk over to stand next to him, leaning against the railing.

"Will you ever give me a chance?" Klaus asks, referring to the way he's been romantically interested in me for a while now.

"Hm, good question." I pace back and forth. Klaus follows me with his eyes.

"I honestly don't know. Your life is so complicated and I don't know where I would fit into it." I answer honestly.

A few moments of silence pass that neither one of us feel like we need to fill.

"So that was your mother?" I ask, we both laugh a little bit at the blunt way I brought her up. "She might explain why you are the way you are."

"No actually, you can thank my father for that." Klaus jokes.

"Ahh, Mikael. Well one good thing about him is that he won't ever meet Hope. She'll never have to go through what you did."

He nods thinking over my words.

"That might just be the best gift I could give her."

"You're the best gift you could give her. She just needs her father and you're a better man than you make yourself out to be. She's changed you. From beast to a man."

I seriously mean what I say. I'm mostly joking about the beast part but the rest I think is genuine.

"Do you truly believe that." He asks, turning to look my in the eyes.

"I honestly do. You talk a lot of game but you aren't that bad." I smirk.

A soft cry in the room behind us halts our conversation. Klaus goes in to check on Hope and I surprisingly follow. Klaus walks over to her crib and picks her up, cradling her close to him.

"You just proved my point."

He looks up at me, raising his brows for me to explain.

"I can see it your eyes. She is the best thing that ever happened to you. You'd do anything for her." I can't help but smile at the two of them.

I take a few steps closer. I place my hand on the top of Hope's head and brush away a few of her short little hairs. She nuzzles her head back into my hand a little more which causes me to smile. I turn to see just how close Klaus and I have come. I lean forward and press a kiss to Klaus's cheek.

"Goodnight Klaus."

I walk out of the room and then vamp out of compound.

This is not the end of Klaus and I's story. Not by a long shot.
