-John's POV-

It wasn't before long after opening that it became incredibly busy. Folks from everywhere in England came by, even a few American tourists. All sorts of clothes needed to be restocked, and thankfully a donation truck came by in the afternoon. I wasn't working alone thankfully, I worked with this young girl named Mary. She seemed like a sweetheart, she usually talked about her friends and family and even school life. Her parents were deaf, so it was hard for her to communicate with them often. I was in one of the dressing rooms cleaning mirrors, until I heard mumbling voices outside, one of them sounded familiar. I stopped to listen in.
"Say would you mind helping me find something ravishing to wear tonight, I'm meeting a special someone after they get off work.", I heard the voice say. "Oh? Who is she?", Mary replied. "Take a guess, darling.", the voice responded. "Oh Fred, you're such a charmer, aren't you?", Mary cooed.

Wait a minute, Mary knows Freddie? Are they...are they already dating?! No! No, this can't be! He was kissing me earlier! Maybe he's bisexual too... I don't know or care, this is almost tearing me apart again. I mean, as long as he's happy with someone, I can't just force him to break up with her. Why didn't he just tell me? My eyes began to water rapidly, but I held back the tears, I just couldn't cry at work. I've come far from forgetting about it, but just listening to this brought back awful memories. I just couldn't resist not listening to their conversation just to see what that Mary girl is up too. I didn't stop cleaning up however, at least I was still doing my job. Their conversation stopped a few minutes later because I assume that Freddie left. I came out of the dressing room to fulfill cashier duties until closing. "Hey Mary, who were you talking too?", I asked her. "Oh, that was Freddie, he just came in for a few threads for tonight apparently.", she responded. Just pretend you don't know about the conversation they had. "Did you need them for something?", I questioned. "He said he's meeting someone after work tonight.", she shrugged. "Hm, whoever he's meeting must be very lucky...", I pondered. She nodded and returned back to her work. I obviously knew it was me he was meeting, but I had to pretend that it was someone else for the rest of my shift.

Mary left a few hours later due to near closing time. I thought to myself if I should ask Freddie about her as I cleaned up the shop. Maybe I really shouldn't if they're already committed to each other...or maybe I should. I just want to know what's going on between them. After cleaning up, of course I headed home to change into something nice, something I know he'd like. So I wore one of my favorite shirts in his favorite colors, a yellow shirt with a monarch butterfly on it, along with some jeans and I don't know why I picked these tan boots. I wasted a few minutes debating whether to pedal there or ride the trolley. I did have enough change so I took it there. The receptionist this time was a guy, a hunk to be exact. "Who are you here to see?", he asked with a roar in his voice. "Fr-freddie Mercury....he's a friend of mine. ", I uttered. He looked at me for a bit and allowed me up there. My anxiety nearly got me when he was staring at me that way.

-Freddie's POV-

I heard a knock on my door seconds later after fixing everything up, must be John. I was exact when I opened the door. "Hey there.", I greeted him. He shyly said hello and came in. I'm not gonna lie, he looked so adorable in that yellow shirt. "Wow, this is lovely, Freddie.", he complimented at the lovely display on the table.
"Thanks, I wanted to surprise you, darling.", I replied. The display was full of fruits and flowers, and yes plenty of wine. "I'm sure it took quite a bit of work and effort for this amazing display.", he said sitting on the couch. "It really did, after I left Beba, I started planning everything. I really wanted to make this evening very special.", I responded sitting next to him. I caught a glimpse of him slightly blushing, damn it was cute. "I'd say you did a very good job by yourself, Freddie.", he complimented. "Thank you, darling.", I replied and pecked his cheek, "Say, how bout a glass of that wine you love so much." "Yes, please.", he politely chirped. "Your wish is my command, Johnny.", I hummed, reaching over to the glasses. I poured a bit of wine for the both of us, and we proposed a toast to each other.

John eventually had this worried look on his face. "John, are you alright?", I asked. "O-oh, yeah, I've just been....thinking about work... ", he replied, with an utterly mumble at the end of his sentence. "What about work, dear?", I questioned. He took a few deep breaths, not allowing his anxiety get to him. "Do you know about this girl....named Mary?", he asked.
"The only Mary I know is Mary Austin, she works at Beb-" Wait a minute, they work together? Oh wow! "John, that's her, that's Mary Austin. She's a good friend of mine. We meet in '69 at uni.", I said in realization. His eyes widened at me. "Oh? So you two aren't...d-dating?", he asked blushing redder. "Oh no, she already has a boyfriend...or so I thought. She broke up with him last week.", I responded, taking another sip of wine. "I asked because well....I heard you both talking and...maybe flirting when I was cleaning the dressing rooms.", he sighed, tears welling up in his eyes suddenly. It hurt to see him this way.

I wiped his tears, explaining that I was only being playful with her, and that maybe she'll find someone different. He nodded in complete understanding, taking another sip of wine as I kissed his tear stained cheek. "Don't worry about her, John, she'll find someone better for her.", I told him comforting him. "I understand, I should probably befriend her. She seems really sweet.", he replied. I smiled and nodded in reply. I honestly think that they should really be friends...but only him and I could possibly be more than just friends. Hopefully.

(A/N: I'M CRYING, SHIT'S ABOUT TO GET CUTE... and maybe a little naughty, who knows?)
