A/N: Warned ya.

-John's POV-

It's the day of the audition, luckily and thankfully I had this entire week off from working. I felt increasingly nervous, what if they don't approve my playing? What if they don't like me? I took deep breaths and tried not to think of them being judgmental. I got out of bed and performed my morning routine, brushing teeth, getting dressed, eating breakfast, ecetra. I headed out the door carefully carrying my bass to the nearest trolley station. I stopped there about an hour later. As I waited, I felt a pat on my shoulder. "Hey there, aren't you that tea boy from the local touring agency?", a woman asked. "Yes, I am.", I reply. She looked down at my bass. "You playing guitar?", she asks inquisitive. "I do ma'am, bass guitar. I'm actually auditioning for a band.", I replied. "Hmm interesting, hardly any bands around here anymore. But there is one looking for a bassist....maybe you'd be the perfect fit.", she explained smiling, I could hear the next trolley coming by as she said that. "I sure hope that they do pick me. If not, it's totally fine.", I calmly said. "Heh, I honestly doubt they found someone other than you. Trust me, you're gonna get it!", she said as the trolley stopped in front of us. After she got on, I carefully got on with my bass. "Need help?", another person asks. He helped me get to a close seat, carefully setting my bass down. I thanked him and he went to his seat.

30 minutes had passed and I arrived to the studio mentioned in the flyer Mr. Mercury gave me. I carefully got off the trolley and hesitantly went in. Deep breaths, I took more deep breaths. It was quite silent as I walked down the halls leading to an empty room only to see Freddie inside. "Oh there you are, darling. You're quite early.", he greeted. "H-hello.", I greeted back. "Don't worry, the other two will be here shortly. They're usually early, but I don't know what happened this morning.", he said inviting me inside. I peered around to see a brilliant drumset and another guitar set, must be a drummer and a guitarist coming. No wonder they need a bassist, it's essential for any band actually. "Do you think they're arguing or something?", I questioned. "Probably, it's Roger who usually starts it with Brian. He has bad temper but he's usually a sweetheart.", Freddie replied sitting on the couch. I carefully set my bass beside it and hesitantly sat next to him. I couldn't resist but to stare him down, quite nervously too. Any time he peered back, I'd hide my face and blush deeply. "Is everything alright, dear?", he once asked. "Yeah, I'm fine, Mr. Mercury.", I reply. "It's okay, you can just call me Freddie.", he chuckled. It was kinda cute. Dammit. I honestly thought I liked women more than men, maybe I liked both.

"How bout we get to know each other while we wait for the others. I'm sure you have something kinda interesting to tell me.", he said. "Well uhm....besides working as a tea boy as a part-time job, I went to uni for engineering. I was once in a band, but we suddenly split, and I forgot the name of the band.", I spoke. Freddie rose an eyebrow at me. "Really? I used to be in a band too. We were The Hectics, we basically covered Little Richard songs and played small gigs. I did go to uni for graphic design, but soon, I really enjoyed music.", he explains. "Wow....that seems, fascinating...", I mumbled. "Is something the matter?", he asked scooting closer.

Shit.

"It's just....I'm quite timid and hushed these days. Sometimes I have  anxiety over little things.", I admitted. "I understand, darling, I know how it is to be timid. I'm the same way honestly.", he replied rubbing my shoulder. "Re-really?", I asked, he nodded. "That is until I'm on stage. I become a totally different person on stage.", he added. Thinking about being on stage in front of millions made me feel a little bit more anxious and a little petrified about the audition. I took a few deep breaths to calm down a bit. "Do not worry, John. Your audition will go well, I promise.", I heard Freddie say, my hand in his. "I sure hope so.", I replied. Then a slight knock on the door was heard. Freddie got up and answered, there stood a blonde boy and a curly brunette.

"Ah, you two finally came, I was worried sick!", Freddie said. "Sorry about running late, Fred, we were stuck in traffic for almost an hour.", the curly boy said coming in with the blond. "It's okay, as long as you both came here safely.", Fred replied. The blonde one suddenly glared at me. "Who's the newbie?", he asked. "Glad you asked.", Fred replied, signaling me to stand up. I hesitantly got up and went over to them. "Brian, Roger, this is John Deacon, he'll be auditioning for the bassist role. John, this is Brian May, our guitarist, and this blonde boy is Roger Taylor, our drummer.", Freddie introduced. "H-hi.", I nervously greeted. "Hello, John, nice to meet you.", Brian greeted. They seem to be nice already, or so I hope so. "John, why don't you set up...", Freddie suggests. "I uhm....I forgot my amp at home...", I said. "No worries, we got a spare one in the back if you're okay with that.", Roger stated. I nodded hesitantly and he and Brian left to go get it. My legs felt like jelly and I sat back down on the couch. Freddie sat back with me rubbing my shoulder in comfort. "I know how difficult it is meeting new people, but trust me, they're very nice young men. And I understand how nerve racking this audition is for you.", he confided. "It is for me right now, I never had anxiety as a child, but after my father passed....everything must've changed.", I uttered suddenly tearing up. "My dear, I am so sorry to hear that.", he conceded. "It's okay, Freddie. I won't let anxiety bring me down, especially with today's audition. At least my confidence doesn't fade away.", I said wiping a tear. "You'll do great, John.", the Persian acknowledged patting my shoulder. I smiled a little, knowing that I'll do just fine.
