I pressed my palm to Chris' shoulder, trying to stop the blood. A layer of sweat covered Chris' forehead and he groaned, already feeling the effects of the bite. I was so mad at myself. I should have done a perimeter check this afternoon instead of running to Chris. If I had done the perimeter check, maybe I would've found the warriors and taken them out before they could get to Chris. I clenched my jaw and a gold haze completely overtook my vision, blinding me with rage. I closed my eyes and slowly tried to calm down. Chris was panting, but he managed to get out a sentence.

"Kylie- am- will I be a- a werewolf now?" He asked.

"Yes." I replied, my voice flat and empty. Even through the pain, Chris smirked. "Cool." He said, and then he blacked out. Of course he would think it was cool. I stood up and gathered him in my arms, carrying him deeper into the woods. I found a small clearing and set him down, waiting for him to wake up. After awhile, he had cold chills. Goosebumps popped up on his arms and he started shivering, though he remained unconscious. I saw his muscles ripple, growing stronger and thicker. His jaw clenched and he grimaced in pain. I just held him and waited. He started to sweat, whimpering and mumbling unintelligible things. Finally, his eyes opened slightly and he gripped the collar of my shirt tightly, his knuckles turning white. He whimpered again, and his whole body shuddered before going still. He sighed in relief as the pain left him, and I knew he was one of us now. He sat up, his fingers digging into the earth as he gripped it for balance. His head swayed, and he shook it slightly. He wore a dazed expression, as if he couldn't understand what had just happened. Then he stood up, clutching his stomach like he was gonna puke.

"Chris it's the wolf, just let it out. Don't control it." I advised.

Chris clenched his teeth and nodded, groaning as his teeth began to sharpen, his eyes lightening and his hair darkening. A few seconds later, a gigantic black wolf, even bigger than Anthony, lay at my feet in a crumpled heap. Chris glanced up at me and opened his eyes fully. I gasped. They were even brighter than mine. Brighter than my honey-tinted gold. How was that even possible?! Chris cocked his head curiously, wondering why I was shocked. He was the biggest wolf, and he had the brightest eyes. Therefore, he was- our leader. Our new alpha. I swayed on my feet, in danger of passing out. Instead I let my wolf form claim me, and I fell to the ground beside Chris.

I shook my head in disbelief and glanced over at Chris, who wore a confused expression.

"What's wrong?" His voice asked in my mind.

"Your the biggest wolf I've ever seen, and your eyes are brighter than mine. You're the alpha of my pack." I said.

Chris was frozen.

"How?" He finally asked.

"I don't know, but one thing is for certain. Your eyes shouldn't be gold. They should be silver, because the rogue that bit you had silver eyes." I said.

"Yet my eyes are the brightest gold of all? That makes no sense." Chris replied, shaking his gigantic black-furred head. "Well, since you're our alpha, I have to introduce you to my pack." I muttered.

"Will they be mad?" He asked.

"I don't know. Not Bree, and probably not Chad. But Anthony might be a little pissed when he realizes I picked you as my mate instead of him and-" I cut off, realizing I had thought that out loud, or rather, I had sent that thought to Chris by mistake.

"Wait, so he's supposed to be your mate?" Chris asked in confusion.

"Yeah that's why he kissed me. The elders paired him with me, and I don't know if they will respect my change in decision. Of course you are a bigger and better looking wolf than Anthony, and they usually mate the two best wolves in the pack. I think they might pair me up with you anyway." I thought.
