As Anthony growled and took another step towards me, I showed my teeth and my muzzle wrinkled in disgust as I growled back. In the human world, a man never fought a woman. It was wrong, and most of the time the man was stronger than the woman. In the werewolf world, we were all evenly matched, so Anthony would feel no guilt in fighting me. My fur bristled and we circled each other, looking for a good opening to strike. I found one and lunged, tackling Anthony and trying to sink my teeth into his shoulder. Unfortunately, my razor-sharp canines fell just half a millimeter short from his throat and clenched around his fur at the same time his charcoal gray paw landed on my chest and pushed me off him with force. I flew off his body and landed on my side at the base of a tree with a mound of his fur in my mouth. I spit it out and coughed. It tasted like cotton. I couldn't get out a proper growl, as my mouth now tasted dry and parched. Anthony took the advantage of my exposed underbelly and leapt towards me, claws exposed. I rolled and he left four long gashes in the bark of the tree that I had just been in front of. I shuddered. That would've been me. Anthony was aiming for the death match, huh? Well, I wasn't gonna back down. I growled and flung myself at Anthony's unprotected back, sinking my teeth into his flesh and not missing this time. He howled in agony and twisted his head, ripping into my exposed shoulder. I let go of him in shock and surprise, and whimpered as he used his hold on me to toss me in front of him like a rag doll. As I was flung from his back into a thorn bush, the flesh ripped from my shoulder and it streamed blood. I landed on the ground on my bad shoulder and whimpered as it scraped against the dirt. I saw a dark pool of blood lay before me on the ground as Anthony charged me again. He landed on top of me with such force that we were knocked back a couple feet, and in all the commotion I raked my claws against his foreleg, leaving three long gashes that instantly began to ooze blood. He growled and gnashed his teeth together in fury as his lips curled.

"You're gonna regret that." He said in my mind.

"Bring it." I said just as venomously.

I couldn't believe I still had the courage to say that as I slowly got to my feet, holding my injured leg in the air so no weight would be put on my shoulder. My chest was bruised, my shoulder bleeding and stinging, there were thorns embedded in my left side and my right ear, and I was beginning to feel light-headed from blood loss. I shook my head to clear it and shot Anthony a look of pure hatred. I took a step forward and whimpered. Without remorse, Anthony tackled me and I fell back, my vision blurring. I saw Anthony's blurry wolf-form come closer and just as his teeth sunk into my neck and pain flashed through me, I heard a voice in my head. Anthony heard it too.

"STOP!" It was laced with the authority of the alpha.

The alpha. My mate. Chris. I whined and my vision began to go in and out of focus. I saw a black mass push Anthony off my body, and his teeth took another piece of my flesh with him, from my neck this time. My neck began to gush blood like my shoulder, and I heard fighting and growls to my left. I couldn't properly turn my wolf head, so I phased back to a human. Chad and Bree's faces appeared before me. "Are you okay?!" Bree shouted worriedly with tears streaming down her face. "Stay with us come on!" Chad shouted.

I turned my head and saw a black wolf fighting a gray wolf. Chris and Anthony.

Chris lifted a paw and swiped his claws down Anthony's face, across his eyelid, on top of his muzzle, and down to his jaw. Anthony howled and snarled at the same time. Chad got up and phased into his wolf form, running towards Anthony to help Chris. Anthony turned towards Chad and Chris took the opportunity to strike. He lunged and knocked into Anthony with so much force that he flew five yards back and hit the base of a giant tree. Anthony slid to the ground, unconscious, in a furry heap. I turned back towards Bree and cried out as another wave of pain washed over me. My body felt sticky with blood and I could feel it begin to pool on the ground. I felt two strong arms scoop me up, and I was against Chris' warm chest. His face loomed into view as he looked down at me. He began to move towards his house, and he whispered into my ear. "Stay with me, stay with me".

"Chris, I-I c-cant hold on I t-think-"

"No, you CAN. Hold on a little longer!" He urged. My vision began to blur again and grow dim. My grip on Chris' arm loosened.

"KYLIE!" He shouted. But my vision went black. My ears were filled with Chris' menacing growl before I lost consciousness.

When I woke up I instantly realized I was in the guest room at Chad's house. I sat up and hissed as a spasm of pain rocketed through me. My neck and shoulder throbbed, and all of my joints ached. It was no big deal, through. Werewolves healed quickly from big injuries, as long as they rested and were unconscious while they healed. I knew as soon as I shifted into wolf form my joints would stop aching. I slowly pealed off the bandages around my neck, to reveal: nothing. The injuries were gone, just like I knew they would be. Then I slipped off my shirt and peeled off the bandage that was wrapped around my shoulder. As soon as I put my shirt back on, I looked around the room. Empty. I strained my ears, and I heard the sound of conversation downstairs. I quickly shifted into my wolf form so I could hear better.

"...and I'll be damned if he ever comes around here again." Chris said.

"I wish he could've accepted how things are, because now that he's gone, he's either gonna become a lone wolf, or join his father." Bree said sadly.

"And knowing Anthony, he'll probably choose the latter." Chad said with a sigh.

"The only choice was to banish him, or kill him. I was worried Kylie wouldn't like it if I killed him." Chris said.

I phased into human form, and shouted at the top of my lungs.

"I WOULDN'T HAVE GAVE A DAMN IF YOU KILLED THAT BASTARD!!!" Seconds later, I heard footsteps on the stairs, and the door banged open. Chad, Chris, and Bree came running in. Chris engulfed me in a crushing hug and I hugged him back. While his face was hidden in my shoulder, he raised his head slightly and captured my ear between his teeth.

" I love you." He said in my head.

"I love you too." I responded mentally.

Chad and Bree noticed nothing.
