I growled when I registered the scent of the single rogue lookout wolf. Chris motioned for all of us to slide back into the cover of the trees so that we wouldn't be spotted if there were any more lookouts. We slipped quietly around the edge of the trees and got back onto the trail of Anthony's scent. It seemed that he had walked alongside of the other wolf, following him to their destination. He had not been forced, and that fact made me see red. He would betray his pack over another packmate that he didn't like!? We were supposed to be family, all of us! It was among the rarest for a wolf to break off and join another pack, and now Anthony had done it even though he had vowed to the elders that he never would! Chris snorted with shock when Anthony's scent became accompamied not only with another lokkout, but with two spies' scent! I walked up and took a whiff, and I almost passed out from what I smelled. Audrey's scent was now joined with Anthony's! His father had gotten to him, he was lost and there was no way we could ever bring him back. I hung my head when I came to this realization. Chris caught on to my thoughts and nudged his shoulder against mine.
It's not your fault. I heard him say in my head.
It doesn't matter. Do you know how much it hurts to lose a packmate, or did you just hate him too much to ever understand? I asked mournfully.
I see your point, but if you stay strong we just might be able to get him back. Chris said.
He's not coming back. I said.
I didn't say he had a choice. Chris said with a smirk.
I sighed, but continued to sneakily follow Anthony's scent with Chris by my side.

About ten minutes later, we arrived at a much thicker patch of trees. We hid on the outskirts, and I stayed with my belly low to the ground so my bright white fur wouldn't stick out. Chris and Bree decided to investigate, becuase their fur was dark and they weren't as easily noticed. Chad and I were kind of the lookouts/spies, since this was the place that we suspected the Rogue's were hidden. Bree and Chris slunk into the thick foliage, their tails disappearing into the dark shadows that lay before us. Chad whined softly and I felt him form a strong mindlink with Bree to make sure she was safe. I did the same with Chris, and I felt him chuckle.
You don't need to keep an eye on me Kylie, I can take care of myself. he said sarcastically.
Just shut up and concentrate, there's nothing wrong with being a little cautious. I snapped.
I continued to look through Chris' eyes, and I saw him carefully creep deeper and deeper into the thick patch of trees. Chad and I slowly inched forward on our belly's. Chris stopped and sniffed at the air. Since I was basically in his mind at the moment, I could smell what he had just smelled. Rogue's. And a LOT of them. Not just the spies, but the lookouts and warriors and workers and servants and- and Anthony and Audrey. A low growl slipped through Chris' teeth when he smelled Anthony, but Bree mentally shushed hm. There was also the smell of some lone wolves that had joined the Rogue's for chances at a pack, food, or revenge.
Chris and Bree instantly got low to the ground and inched forward until they could see a clearing through the thick low branches of a bush. What they saw almost had me quivering in fear, and I wasn't even the one looking at it directly! Chris looked around the clearing to see a gigantic field with a large manor in the middle of it. Outisde, there were wolves everywhere, some training, some joining the Rogue's (you could tell they were recently lone wolves because of thier matted fur), some guarding, and most shifting into human form and entering the manor. There were two teenagers standing by a tree extremely close to Chris in their human forms. Chris tuned into their conversation, and I was able to hear what they were saying through his thoughts.
"...Yeah I heard about it too. Audrey was just about the happiest man alive yesterday. Pity his son didn't come here sooner." One boy said.
"Eh, I still don't completely trust him. It's rare for a wolf to leave the pack he's grown up in. I though at first he was planning an ambush and acting as a spy, but I guess Audrey didn't care." The other boy responded.
"Nope he just led the kid by the arm into the manor with a big smile on his face and no worries at all. I seen it with my own eyes."
"I hear that his son's in there right now spilling his guts about his pack. We're probably gonna plan an attack ASAP as soon as we get some new recruits and hear all the details." The second boy said.
"Yeah, we've been waitin on Anthony a real long time. I mean we gave him an offer to come see us about a month or two ago, and he just now accepted it. I wonder why his change in plans was so abrupt?" The first boy asked in a puzzled tone.
"Beats me, you'd have to ask him. Anyway, I'm ready for a good fight. I haven't had one in ages. Let's go find Bryan and ask him if he has updates on our next training match. I think it's this Thursday but I'll have to check..."
Chris tuned out of the two boys' conversation once they drifted off the topic of Anthony. I was boiling with rage when my assumptions had been proven at the fact that Anthony had been debating on leaving us for awhile now. Chris growled a little too loudly from his location at the hideout, earning him a jab in the ribs from Bree.
Let's head back to Chad and Kylie, we've learned what we came to find out. I heard Chris explain to Bree.
Seconds later, Bree and Chris stood in front of us, and we all quietly made our escape. I knew that now we had gotten our information, we had to attack even sooner than the Rogues did. In a very short matter of time, I knew they would find Chris and Bree's scent, and maybe even mine and Chad's. Then they would know we had discovered their hideout. They would probably run then, or they would attack right away depending on how soon they found it. We needed to hurry. As we ran, Chris explained that as soon as we came back we needed to gather the whole pack. I was worried that all eleven of us wouldn't be enough, and I focused on Bree and Chad's thoughts and saw that they had the same worries as I did. This wasn't gonna be good.
