When Anthony took up his place next to Chad, I noticed a chocolate brown form that had been watching us from behind a tree. Bree. I was about to call out to her through my mind, but as soon as I took a step forward, pain shot through my ribs. I whimpered in agony, falling to the ground. As soon as my snout touched the earth, I blacked out.

I awoke in an unfamiliar place, on an unfamiliar bed. Chris' scent engulfed me. His face loomed into view as my eyes adjusted.
"Ugh, what happened?" I asked groggily. I tried to move my body and was shocked to find a lot of stiffness around my stomach. I looked down, seeing a white bandage wrapped tightly around my torso.
"You have 3 broken ribs." Chris explained. I felt a twinge in my side as I tried to move again. "Ow." I complained.
"Yeah. Thanks for that, but I didn't need your protection." Chris said with a smirk. I stuck my tongue out at him in a childish gesture.
"Where am I?" I asked, taking a look around the room.
"My house." Chris said.
"Where's your parents?" I asked.
"My mom is at work. It's like 7 am." Chris said.
"What about your dad?" I asked.
"Um, I- I don't live with my dad." Chris said.
"Oh." I said, dropping the subject. Chris nodded.
"Did I miss morning patrol?" I asked.
"Yeah, but so did I. It's okay." Chris assured me.
"Today's saturday, right?" I asked.
"Yup." Chris said. Well, this was awkward. We were all alone, in his room, with me occupying his bed. I didn't know what to say to break our silence.
"What about your parents?" Chris asked.
"Oh, they're on patrol. They'll probably be done by like 5. They wake up at six and run the perimeter of the whole state of Maryland." I said.
"Aren't they worried as to why you didn't come home last night?" Chris asked warily.
"No, I'm a wolf. I don't come home every night right away. They usually wait 2-3 days before they start worrying." I said with a shrug.
"Oh." Chris said. The silence was heavy as his gaze briefly flickered to my lips and a flash of gold crossed his vision. I knew he was wondering if he was still allowed to kiss me. I nodded slightly In encouragement. The hand that Chris had resting next to my shoulder on the bed moved up to cup the back of my neck, raising my head slightly off the pillow so his lips could meet mine. All I could taste was sweet, raw passion as he kissed me urgently. I heard a deep growl rumble in his chest as he continued to kiss me. I wove my fingers through his short black curls, making the rumbling in his chest increase. I didn't know how he could have gold eyes when a rogue had bitten him, but I was glad he did. Otherwise, he wouldn't be kissing me right now. He would be trying to kill me.
Chris kissed me multiple times, pressing his lips to mine again and again. My breath came in gasps as he trailed down my neck. I whimpered in surprise as he took my earlobe between his teeth, his chest humming with excitement. I trailed my hand away from his hair and down to his chest as he continued to plant kisses on my neck. I could feel his heartbeat thrumming wildly and out of control beneath my hand. He moved his lips down my collarbone until my shirt interrupted his progress. He took the fabric between his teeth, as if it deeply annoyed him. He sighed, his breath fanning across my skin and raising goosebumps. Chris looked back into my eyes, his orbs completely gold as his dominant wild side emerged. His wolf struggled beneath the surface. A gold haze interrupted my own vision as I felt my canines, sharp in my mouth. Chris lowered his lips to mine for a final kiss, his teeth grabbing my lower lip, indenting the sensitive skin with his sharp canines. I winced slightly at the pain, but his warm tongue swept across the surface, making the sting go away. I smiled through the kiss, pushing him slightly away as his tongue begged for entrance. I could still feel his heartbeat thrumming against my mine, as he had ended up on top of me with his chest pressed against me. "Sorry." He whispered.
