Damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it, DAMN IT! Why me?! I thought as I sprinted through the streets. He couldn't be too far, maybe a block or two away. But surely he'd gotten into his car.
I pushed past a large group of loiterers and kept running. Just kept running until I was safe.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory came to mind and I nearly smiled before realizing that the two situations were too far off. Charlie had been running to tell his loving family the great news. Charlie had his dreams come true. Charlie was running with joy filling his little heart.
I was running from my father.
I was running in fear.
I was running for my life.
A movement caught the corner of my eye and I glanced over. There he was, in his black Ford Mustang. I looked forward again. I was running out of sidewalk, and fast. Soon I'd half to either run through traffic or get caught and killed.
Or....
I pivoted and ran back the way I'd came. Then I turned into an alley. I ran up one wall and flipped through the window of the opposite building, an abandoned skyscraper that was scheduled for destruction any day now.
Thank God for parkour.
I bolted up flights of stairs, my long white hair flying out of my face, my electric blue eyes wide and wild.
Damn it, damn it, damn it. It's fine, I'm fine, it'll be fine.
If I can get away.
I saw my chance and leapt out another window, towards a neighboring, five story building. My feet missed the ledge of the roof and I barely caught it with my fingers. I struggled to pull myself up.
Clap. Clap. Clap.
"Well, well, well." He was there, standing right there, smiling down at me with affection that I knew couldn't be true. "Alice, dear, sweet, precious Alice."
He was taller than most Japanese men. With perfect black hair and just as black eyes. He was a lawyer, and I was his strange daughter. The daughter he wanted dead.
He crouched down and put his hands over mine as I watched him with wide, horror filled eyes.
"It's time, Alice. Any last words?"
I swallowed the lump in my throat. "I hope all your dreams come true."
Confusion flitted across his features. "Oh?" He smirked. "How sweet."
"Keep in mind that nightmares are dreams two," I ground out.
His eyes narrowed and he sneered. "Good bye, Alice."
He pushed my hands away.
I fell, ending up upside down. I watched in horror as the concrete approached. My mouth opened. "AAAAAAAAAAAA-" my scream cut short.
My head hit the concrete.
I felt the pain.
I blacked out a moment before my sight returned in flickers.
I saw my blood creating a puddle around my head.
I saw people surround me.
And then....
I was dead.
