"Very good," Byakuya said as I grinned at my zanpakuto. Lunachi, otherwise known as Moon Blood or Bloody Moon.
It's sealed form was a crimson hilt with a bright white blade, which was thin and razor sharp. The blade had some kind of system through it, a bunch of paths branching towards the sharpened edge, with pinprick sized holes regularly placed to released whatever is decided to put into it, and a single hole on the flat edge near the hilt, though the area around that hole was sharp as well. Perhaps for poison? There was no hand guard. The entire thing was probably as tall as I was and the sheath was just a black chain wrapped around it, which unraveled before combat and wrapped around parts of my body.
"I... I did it!" I cheered, jumping all around. "Thank you, Byakuya!" I wrapped my arms around his neck. His strong arms wrapped around my waist and I realized what was happening. I squeaked, panicked, and jumped back, studying my feet nervously. "S-Sorry Byakuya-taicho..."
Two fingers went under my chin to tilt my head up, making me look at him. He was smiling gently, and my heart fluttered spastically.
"You've done well, Ali," he said softly. "Very well, congratulations."
His head dipped down and his lips met mine before I could react. He pulled away quickly after that and walked away, leaving me standing there, lips tingling, face red, in utter shock. He cast a single, affection filled gaze back before disappearing.
I know I'm no expert on this place, but I'm certain that wasn't a 'good job' kind of action.
I calmed myself and walked out the door, deep in thought.
"Oh, hey! Ali!" A cheerful voice yelled. I turned and saw Renji, grinning as he ran toward me.
"Hey, Renji," I said, my problem momentarily forgotten as I grinned at him. "Guess what, I can use my zanpakuto!"
"Really?!" He stopped beside me, looking at Lunachi. "That's great!!! You know it's name?"
"Lunachi."
"That's wicked!"
He paused, seeming unsure. I looked at him, concerned. "Renji? What's up?"
"I've got something to tell you, but... I'm not sure how..." He admitted.
"Then... Just show me," I suggested, shrugging.
He looked at me, then his gaze hardened in determination. Before I could blink, my face was in his large hands and his lips smashed onto my own. My eyes widened and I froze, once again in shock.
"OI! Al-woah," Renji pulled away and we saw Yumichika and Ikkaku standing in the hall, eyes wide.
"I've gotta go," Renji said giving a hesitant gaze to me before shunpo-ing away.
"Way to go, Kid," Ikkaku grinned.
I opened my mouth, but only a squeak escaped before I fell back on my butt, my hands over my mouth. I shook my head frantically.
This cannot be happening!
"Ali!" The two yelled, running towards me.
"Ali, what's wrong?" Yumichika asked as he and Ikkaku knelt beside me.
"I've got a problem..." I mumbled. I looked pleadingly at Yumichika. "I need your help."
He blinked, then nodded.
I explained my situation.
"Byakuya-taicho, eh, and Renji..." Ikkaku muttered as Yumichika was deep in thought.
"What do I do?" I moaned, burying my face in my hands.
Yumichika hummed, then looked at me. "Well-"
*Alice Heitsu,* a new voice said. We all looked around, but then spotted a black butterfly over head.
"A hell butterfly," Ikkaku muttered.
"I'm... Alice," I said, cringing. God I hate that name.
*Come with me,* the butterfly said flying off. I looked hopelessly at Yumichika.
"We'll talk later," he promised.
I nodded and bid them goodbye before hurrying after the butterfly, my Lunachi held tightly in my grasp.
I pushed my troubles into a vault in the back of my mind. Because if my hunch is right....
It's time for my strength evaluation.
