It felt wrong.
Jim was dating Molly. You were simply cashier at a local gas station. You weren't anything like Molly, a lawyer and the daughter of an LAPD SWAT Commander. You were nothing special compared to her which is why you didn't think twice about Jim Street talking to you a little bit extra one day you were working. But that was months ago. Since then, he had scaled up in his advances to get your attention, and it hadn't worked until now. Jim was standing at your register as your final customer for tonight. "Jim, what are you still doing here?" you asked after noticing him lingering around after he already paid.
"Y/N, I only want to talk," his tone was desperate, almost pleading. You closed down the store, and Jim followed you out to your car. "You're perfect, Y/N.. you're everything I want, and I don't care if that means never seeing Molly again.." he admitted, and as much as you loved to hear it, you didn't want to get in the way of his current relationship. "I only want to be with you, Y/N. I'll call things off if that means getting to be with you-" "Jim, you don't get it!" you cut him off, and he stood quietly.
"Jim, I am not her.. I'm not a fancy lawyer or the daughter of a Commander, I'm only me," you were embarrassed. You wiped a tear, not wanting him to see. Jim walked towards you. "Y/N, you are perfect the way you are. You don't need a well-paying job or have a wealthy family, because that's what makes you even more authentic and real. I see you and I see your soul and your personality, and it's all I need.. it's all I want.." he took your hand in his, and by the look in his eyes, you could tell you genuinely meant what he said. "Well, you know where I work, so when you ties things up on your end, come find me."
One Week Later
You hadn't heard from Jim Street in a week, and every day, you got less and less hopeful. You knew it was too good to be true; some seemingly perfect man comes into your life and is everything you could ask for, but he's already in a relationship? How naïve of you to believe that he would leave his pretty, perfect girlfriend for you-- "Y/N, the bread," your coworker told you, noticing you absentmindedly destroying an entire loaf. You gave a sheepish look, and she walked away. As you finished restocking and closing down the store, there was no sign of Jim. You walked out to your car, and to your surprise, Jim was standing out there with a bouquet of roses and wearing a suit.
You were mesmerized. No one had ever done anything like this for you before. "Y/N, a date night for two awaits," he opened his car door, and you walked towards him, not being able to contain your smile. "Jim, you didn't have to do all of this--" he cut you off gently with a short kiss. "Yes, I did. Because you deserve it.."
