"I'll go talk to Mary to see if she knows anything about the guys who abducted her," you told your partner Kevin. You two had been working together for about a year or two and being in the department, you've seen him at his worst.
That didn't stop you from loving him.
Your feelings for him had grown since the day you met at Molly's and ever since then, you'd been keeping quiet. You had a great partnership and an even better friendship which you didn't want to ruin.
"Alright, I'll keep you posted," Kevin told you as you grabbed the jacket off the back of your chair. You nodded in his direction heading out in the department vehicle which was a blsck SUV.
You all were working the case of a woman who had been raped in her home and needed to ask her questions about her attacker. You pulled into her driveway, knocking on her door.
She opened it with a sad look but gave you a small smile anyway. "Mary, may I come in?" You asked gently. The woman nodded softly and stepped to the side to let you in.
You both sat at her kitchen table for about 30 minutes, going over evidence. Back at the department, Kevin was worried.
He was suspicious of Mary and all of their leads were tracing back to her. He knew you were in danger. He immediately called your phone, and when you saw his name flash across the screen, you raised an eyebrow.
Before you could answer, a rag covered your nose and mouth. You caught a glimpse of Mary who sat there with a smile. How had you not caught on to her lying?
A few seconds later everything went black..
"Kevin, wait!" "I'm not waiting around while my girlf-" he stopped himself. "While my partner is about to get murdered, you can forget it!"
He grabbed his gun and ran out to his SUV. Voight hopped in the passenger seat and a Kevin sped off. Kevin's mind tried to focus on driving but it continued to drift to you. What if he was too late?
He shook the thought as he furiously pulled into Mary's driveway. When he did, he saw a suspect run from the back of the house. Without thinking, he was on a foot pursuit. He chased the man, running as fast as he could. When he tackled him, he threw punch after punch.
"Atwater! Get off him!" Alex pulled him off as the man groaned in pain. "Atwater, go get Y/N, we got this guy," Voight told him and he ran into the house. Antonio has Mary already in hand cuffs as she gave Kevin a smug grin. He ignored her, looking for you.
"Hey, where's Y/N?" Kevin asked Jay after he searched the entire house without finding you. "She's outside in the back of the ambo," he told him, going back to what he was doing. Kevin ran outside to the back of ambulance 61, and released a breath upon seeing you awake and alert.
"Y/N," he breathed, hugging you. You tried not to cry, but couldn't help yourself. "I'm so glad you're okay, I shouldn't have let you go alone, I-" "Kev, it's fine. I'm fine," you reassured him. He held you for a minute and without warning he spoke quietly for only you to hear.
"I love you, Y/N," your breath got catch in your throat. Did he mean it? Of course you felt the same way, but you two were partners. "Kev, we're partners, we can't-" before you could finish, he kissed you. When you pulled away, this time you spoke.
