Michael POV
"Shi.t shi.t shi.t shi.t shi.t."
"You're so f.ucking stupid Michael. Are you kidding me?"
"I know, Luke! Shut Up! Shut up."
"Cal, Ash, back me up here."
"I don't know," Ashton starts. "He's beating himself up enough for all of us."
"Yeah, I am. So if you'd kindly shut the f.uck up."
I'm angry. Beyond angry. At everyone. At everything. At me. At this asshole, Jack, who sounds perfect for Skye. I want to be perfect for Skye. But I'm not, and that's why I told her to go.
I'm such a f.ucking idiot.
I don't know what to do. I shouldn't have let her go. I love her so much. I just wish she knew. If I hadn't gone to England, none of this would have happened. She'd be our secret. She'd be my Skye. No one elses.
"Mikey, let's just-- let's just not think about it. Come on, let's go get some pizza and some video games and let's just hang out for the night," Calum suggests.
"Yeah," the other two agree in unison.
I'm a mess, and I hate the boys seeing me like this.
"No, can you guys just go. I need to be alone for a little."
They reluctantly agree, and I'm left sitting alone in my huge apartment. It feels even bigger and emptier than usual. I don't like having a place this big, but my realtor convinced me it'd be a great investment. Or a gift to my mum and dad if I ever decide to move.
I need to vent, but Skye isn't here to listen. Skye is the whole f.ucking reason I need to vent.
I stand up abruptly, and begin to pace. I've never understood why people pace until now. It's a distraction. I don't know how long I do this, but much too soon, it isn't working anymore.
I head to my bathroom, and grab a box of lilac dye. This can occupy me for a while. The blue is almost all gone so I won't have to re-bleach my hair. F.uck. I'm going bald.
Twenty minutes later and I'm done. I run to the studio room, sitting at the big desk that's cluttered with notepads.
I can't find a f.ucking pen and I'm about to go insane. Finally, I locate one underneath the chair. The words flow from me and my handwriting is a mess, but I don't care. Somehow an entire page is full and I jump up to grab a guitar.
An hour, probably more, passes and I have two guitar parts, the bass, and I'm almost done with the drumming. The drumming is a little rough, but Ashton can help smooth it out later. I look at the clock on my computer screen. Skye should be going on her date now. S.hit.
I let out a cynical laugh, thinking how relevant all those shirts that I wrote idiot on are. I'm a grade-A idiot. But this idiot did just write a pretty great song.
I call the boys asking them to come back and they're all here in record time, probably worried. I lead them into the music room, with the instruments all laid out.
It takes roughly seventeen minutes to explain to them their parts, and teach Luke the lyrics. I'm leaving this one for him to sing, Cal and I can do some harmonies. They all look at each other after reading the lyrics, and then give me a pitying look.
"Shut up. Can we just play the damn song?"
They all shrug in response. I walk over to the desk with all of the recording equipment. It's nothing fancy, but it's great for moments like this; when a song just comes out of nowhere.
My head is currently all over the place. I think I'm going insane. S.hit. A girl has never had me like this before. She's just...she's perfect. She has this adorable nose that you can tell she's the tiniest bit self-conscious about, but not enough to bring it up. Her eyes are sick; they're blue, except not; they're green, except not; they're gold, except not. And her hair. I never thought I'd like a girl's hair so much, but it looks like gold. And the curls are so cool. Her personality is one-of-a-kind. She's all shy and quiet, but around certain people she's the most outgoing person you've ever met. She's up for anything and everything at any point of the day, but then sometimes she just doesn't want to do anything but nap. Naps with her are my favorite, though I'd never tell. I'd never say any of this to her, or anyone.
My lack of vocabulary makes describing her sound dumb, but she is perfect; maybe not to everyone, but she's perfect to me.
"Mikey. Hellooo. Are we playing this song or not?"
"Yeah, sorry."
Ashton counts in, and we start playing. It sounds really great so far. It's brilliant.
Can I have a minute?
I've gotta tell you something.
I heard that someone likes you,
And it might be nothing but he's right in front of you. He's kinda my size,
Don't look back 'cause he's looking.
I think you know him,
But you just don't know that he's right in front of you.Baby, you've been talking to him nearly every day,
He really likes all the games that you play.
He told me to tell you to see what you'd say,
Before he jumps in and he asks for a date.Suddenly, I stop playing. The lads all stop and look at me, waiting for me to explain why I stopped the song I insisted they come over and play, but I don't have one. I set my guitar down, and without really thinking about it first, I run. I run out of the room, out of my apartment, out of my building, to my car, and I drive straight to her house.
I get out of the car and see that all of the lights are out. She isn't home yet.
I'll wait.
I'm f.ucking going insane and I need to fix this.
