Two Years Later
"Get off of that bed!" I hiss at Luke as him and Calum jump up and down on a bedroom set of furniture at the store.
They giggle like little girls and move on to another section of the room.
It's been almost two hours, and Michael and I are nowhere near done buying things for the new apartment. Ashton and Mikey walk next to me as I move from aisle to aisle, searching for the perfect pieces. For some reason, it had seemed like a good idea to buy a penthouse, but now that the realization of how much new furniture we need to fill it has set in, we've started to rethink it.
Once upon a time, I had teased Michael for his oversized apartment for one, but now our home for two is even more ridiculous. One good thing about the extravagant size is that my whole family can fly down and not have to stay in a hotel, but that won't be happening often enough to make this purchase a reasonable one. Nonetheless, I'm excited to finally have a place with Michael that we can call our own.
As I push the cart forward, trying to ignore the two idiots making a mess of all of the displays, I admire the way the diamond on my finger sparkles. I glance at Mikey, wondering how on earth I got so lucky. Somehow, Michael and I have made it this far, and we're only one month away from the wedding. Thirty more days and then we're there.
We had constantly talked about getting married after we got settled down again in Sydney, but always agreed to wait in fear of upsetting the fans. I didn't think that it was ever going to happen, and had begun to lose faith. But, one day when the boys returned from a trip to Japan, Michael burst through the front door and yelled, 'just marry me already, dammit'. Immediately we began planning, and now, here we are, furnishing our future home.
I think my favorite wedding gift so far has been the puppy that they boys surprised us with. Ever since Luke got his own dog two years ago, he's been waiting for the rest of us to get them. He claims that it's because Ketchup II is lonely, but we all know he just wants to go to the park for doggy playdates. The only negative to having Charlie is the fact that Michael now cuddles with him instead of me.
A vibration from my phone grabs my attention. Unlocking the screen, I find a text from Charlotte.
Charlie: Jack and I are finally heading down this weekend!! My mum is watching Mason until the week of the wedding, then you can finally meet him!
Me: it's really not fair that you had a child first...you're going to have to share him. miss you so so much.
"Who's that?" Michael asks, resting his chin on my shoulder.
"Just Charlotte. Her and Jack are going to be here Friday!"
His face lights up as he asks, "do we get to meet Mason?"
"Not until the week of the wedding," I pout.
"Well, since we're on the topic of children, just know that we're going to have to make cuter kids than Jack and Charlotte. It's going to be a hard task, and may take a lot of practice, but I'm up for the challenge if you are," Mikey jokes.
"You're disgusting," I laugh.
"You're the one marrying me!" he exclaims as he leaves a sloppy kiss on my cheek.
"He does have a point," Ashton chimes in.
I roll my eyes and continue to look around as I realize something. We did it; we created our own universe.
