chapter 12: Hidden Secret

"Next!" Says Brooke on her chair in front of a list, with names of candidates for the dance club.

Already Wednesday, but seems time is running slowly. Yesterday, which was on a Tuesday, Brooke didn't do great things other than preparing the casting of the club. Now, she is with Francis, repeating "next" to every single one who does not fill her desire. Only four people have been chosen yesterday, remaining four other people.

" Okay...umm, stop the music, please. Everyone we are going to continue tomorrow. Have a nice day." Brooke, says bored by the situation and starting to think, that the responsibility given to her isn't so easy.

" Are you tired, princess?" Francis asks while ranging everything.

" A little, but I have to go to the fraternity house. We are organizing a party," Brooke says. Francis does not answer but feels a little sad about the news. She is his best friend, but since she met the other group, no time for him. " Do you have any problem?' Brooke asks.

" Nothing Princess, I'm glad you find new friends with whom you are at your ease." He declares, in a melancholic tone.

Brooke knows her friend. He seems so sad, he isn't the Francis she knows and she can't continue to leave her friend apart because of a banal problem.

" Do you want to come to the party with me?" Brooke asks, looking at her friend who does not seem fascinated by the proposal.

" No Brooke! You perfectly know Mason is there and he promised to beat..." Francis starts before Brooke stops him.

" Stop all this trash, that's not the reason why you don't want to come to the party," Brooke says sure of herself. Francis stares at her, with a questionable face. " Admit it, Mason and you are hiding something, and you don't want Amber and me to know about it..." She gets closer to Francis " if I am still your Friend tell me what's wrong."

" ... You are messing up Brooke. There is nothing wrong." He says, still busy to forget what is been said.

" Brooke! You call me Brooke in a serious course! Does it means I'm right?... Well, if you do not come to the party, then I don't go." Brooke declares.

" Stop that Princess, get to the party. I have many things to do and I even have a date with a pretty boy with whom..." He starts.

" Stop lying, you have no date. You get back home and sleep. The other time, you lied to me you were having a date with a boy. Meanwhile, Jessy told me you went back home," Brooke says before adding" come with me, I'm sure you will get fun, forget about Mason."

After such evidence is given to Francis, no matter the problem he has with Mason, his friend is more important than anything else. He accepts under the huge joy of Brooke. They huddle their things and Brooke takes her bike, while Francis takes his car in the direction of the Fraternity house.

At the house, the party hasn't yet started, cause it is still 5 pm. Brooke decides to come early because she promised to help them organize everything, not forgetting the dress she has to wear is found there. Yes, now the Fraternity house seems to be her second house.

Amber hand in hand with Fred, comes to Brooke and Francis already in front of the house.

" Francis! " Amber screams before hugging him " what a great surprise!" She continues, referring to the fact Francis came no matter the interdiction of Mason.

Amber isn't in the same school as Brooke and Francis. They just met because Mason schooled in the same institute as them, and one day when getting to his house, they met Amber and became friends, but that's just a parenthesis.

Francis does not seem comfortable and is instead troubled by the fact he could meet Mason at any moment. Brooke could see the anxiousness drawn on his face, and decides to instead wait for the reaction of Mason.

Amber presents Fred to Francis as her boyfriend. They sympathize before inviting him to enter. Francis looks like he wants to be reticent about the idea but finally accepts. It is with dread, that Francis gets to the house and gets out a silent sigh of relief, not seeing Mason inside the house, but two beautiful girls instead. Brooke can see all his reactions and is more and more sure of her assumptions.

" Hey girls!" Brooke greets. Mackenzie and Ashley turn after halting their activities and greet friendly Brooke. Brooke presents Francis to the girls as her fellow friend.

With joy, it is Ashley who invites Francis to come and help with the party, they go ahead before Mackenzie and Brooke prepare the chips.

" So how was your day beauty?" Mackenzie asks.

" Boring! About the casting, nothing has changed, it is stagnating!" Brooke exclaims.

" Don't worry you will be at the level," Mackenzie encourages Brooke before a fast " hello" passes behind them.

The girls turn to look at who is so hurrying. Brooke realizes it is Mason, going to the kitchen where Francis is, and in less than two seconds they hear " What is this shit doing here? GET OUT!" Brooke rushes to the kitchen with Mackenzie.

" I said get out!" Mason repeats in a furious tone.

" Stop that Mason. I invited him to come," Brooke says categorically.

" What is the problem?" Fred asks after he enters the kitchen with his girlfriend.

" How dare you do that? You know I don't..." Mason starts before Brooke stops him.

" You what? Promise to beat him up because he is gay? Is he not a human being like you? Or is there another reason you don't want to see him?" Brooke asks, provoking him.

" I said FUCK OUT!" Mason shouts in direction of Francis.

" No need to shout, I'm going!" Francis resigns before getting outside fastly.

" If he goes, then me too!" Brooke declares.

" Great, then get out also," Mason says rudely before getting upstairs to his room.

Brooke couldn't imagine it is the jovial Mason she knows. Asking her to go, perfectly knowing he has an interest in her, how dare he does such things? Anywhere, Brooke knows she has to arrange the situation. She gets to Francis and stops him. " Wait Francis, don't go!"

" I'm sorry Brooke, but I can't stay with such a jerk!" He declares.

" Can you finally tell me what is wrong?" Brooke asks.

" You saw it, he can't see me even in picture," He replies.

" No! You know what I'm talking about, tell me your secret. Is it because I'm always spending time with them that you lose confidence in me, and lie to me?" Brooke says disappointed. " Well, is okay Francis! Now I know my position in your life." She gets inside the house under the voice of Francis calling for her, but she isn't in the mood to hear anything from him anymore.

While entering, she hits someone in front of her and redresses her head to see who is the person, it is Mason! Brooke changes to an awful face and gets ready to go,  not expecting to hear anything from him. He clasps her to listen to him for some seconds.

" I'm sorry Brooke!" Mason forgives still trying to hold on to Brooke. " I didn't mind telling you that, I don't know what happened to me but just tell me what can I do to arrange this."

Brooke could simply say " tell me the secret you are hiding with Francis." But it would be too easy and he will never tell her. The most important is for Francis to come back here.

" Get to him and ask him to come back," Brooke says categorically.

" But.. " he starts with an unpleasant face.

" No, I said...get to him and invite him here," Brooke says " stop your quarrels and do the right thing." She leaves him and gets to the kitchen with the other.

They all thought, she went with Francis and were even preparing to talk to Mason about his attitude, especially Mackenzie. Now it is Mason who has to do the right thing, whatever the secret they have, whatever the reason for their forfeited friendship...time to make the right option!
