Already 6 pm. Brooke fell asleep while waiting for Wayatt to finish with his board. She opens her eyes slowly, and sees nothing other than dark places, feels someone is holding her from behind, touches the arm, and could feel it's Wayatt, sleeping with her.
She switch on the lamp on the bedside and turns slowly to him, looks at him tenderly, smirks, and sighs after, wondering how love can be so captivating, how love could be so innovative and so memorable, something unforgettable. How could waking up and finding the one you love close to you would be fantastic. " I will never give out this feeling, but pray for it to restore forever." She arranges and caresses Wayatt's curly dark brown hair and face delicately, without waking him up, and in her mind, she says "I swear I love this guy!"
She turns up from the bed while removing gently his arm around her. He shivers a little on the bed but does not wake up. Brooke turns on the light in the room, seeing how scattered the room is, with paint all over, brushes all around, even the shirt of Wayatt she is wearing hasn't been left apart from this catastrophe. She smiles when realizing all this was just the result of their kiddy games. She gets to the board and sees if it has been finished now.
One step after the other, and she is already in front of the masterpiece. She could now realize when seeing the board that, it wasn't effectively finished before and now, it is completed. But the style has changed, the board seems more lifely to Brooke and more full-bodied, she could see Wayatt has added a woman on the other side of the board, that side which represented the lifely part of the board. The woman is surrounded by butterflies, surely representing her, and stretches her hand to the man on the other side, like inviting him to join her.
All this is more than her, tears can't help but overcome her green eyes. In her mind is clear that the board represents them. Was the board just a prediction of their future relationship? She can't have the answer, but what is clear is that she loves the board, and she is full of emotions right now just looking at the amazement of the board. Feeling like the board is talking to her, like telling her that, with Wayatt it may be forever and how joyful they may be, that all this isn't a dream but a reality, the most beautiful one!! He even added butterflies around the woman, not knowing Brooke loves butterflies. This board is the simplest representation of reciprocal feelings, wanting two souls to join together, letting one out of darkness and get into brightness, this is love!
Two arms enroll Brooke's thighs, and she rapidly wipes her tears knowing it's Wayatt who woke up already. Too concentrated on the board, she didn't hear him get down of the bed. He throws warm kisses on her neck, before caressing her cheeks with his gently, like to produce more warmth.
"What do you think?" He interrogates.
Broke is speechless, just at the simple fact that he already considers her as his world, and that she can't mess up the relationship. She can't tell a truth who will inevitably turn up the relationship into a fiasco. She loves Wayatt more than she could ever do for any other man. All this loving proves are just all she needs to become better and she just needs to say it right now, if possible without her tears but, seems they are stubborn and can't stop flowing due to the intensity of the emotions. Never knew she is so emotional.
She turns to him and holds his cheeks, and lets his dark eyes into hers still sink into tears.
" You gave me a chance to love and to leave myself loved... I never knew part of myself would depend on such a feeling. Where were you all this time Wayatt?..." She expresses, with all the pressure going down from her heart, satisfied of telling all this to the one she loves. Embracing the feeling more and more again.
Wayatt wipes her tears with his hands, and still in the same position she continues.
" Why have I not found you before all this tragedy, called my life? I'm sure I would be a better person now, I'm sure I would be so much better..."
" No one is perfect Brooke! Yes, you made missteps and you dug your feelings. I don't yet know why but I'm sure it's for a good reason. The other Brooke was just a false one, the one I have right in front of me... Is just my angel. Nothing is about you or me, now everything is about us." He concludes under this beautiful sentence that can't retain Brooke from giving him a long kiss and hugging him more, as If she didn't want him to go far away from her.
This is so beautiful, the secret wasn't to change Brooke, the secret was to let Brooke feel something positive in her life, something more powerful than friendship. It's love! The cure of every evil, of every illness due to feelings, just let it enter and it will change your life, cause you can't change someone, you just have to let him or her out of darkness.
Some minutes after the previous emotional event. Brooke tells Wayatt how she looks at the board now, how she is amazed by it, and how much she loves it.
" I'm happy you love the board, and I am happy I finally finished it." Wayatt declares cheerfully.
" Why have you put all these butterflies?" Brooke asks.
" Because of the tattoo you have on your back, I just imagine it would fit you all these butterflies,"
" I love butterflies!" She declares. " Tell me, why are you not showing such a great job to an art gallery?" She then interrogates.
Wayatt remains silent and instead starts arranging his brushes and painting boxes. He then sighs " I don't know what people may think about my work. I don't know if what I'm doing is what they are waiting from me... It's complicated!"
" So does it means you are afraid of critics? Do you know it's part of Arts? Critics are the way by which you can progress as an artist," Brooke says.
" Yes, of course, I know all that but I'm not ready Brooke, to face everyone and show them my work. And if they don't understand what I'm trying to express, it would be a defeat for me, and I don't like losing, it makes me weak,"
" So is it your biggest weakness? the fear of the public?" She asks.
" I don't know!" He exclaims.
"(Sighs and hold his busy hands into hers) you know what's my dream? Being a great dancer and even more, a great choreographer, and I'm sure I will make it one day, so before waiting for this famous day, do you know what I usually keep in mind?... <<At each step a battle, so never get tired of fighting.>> This is a special phrase for me and I want to share it with you. Remember, at each step a battle..." She starts mentioning.
" ...so never get tired of fighting." Wayatt finishes quoting with a smirk.
" Promise me you will be a great artist one day," Brooke says in a jovial manner.
" I promise, only if you will forever remain with me," Wayatt answers looking at Brooke profoundly.
" I will!" She says in turn, even if a piece of her don't know what future reserves. They both smiles at each other.
They discover it's late now and that the others aren't yet at home. They step out of the room, Brooke into her previous dresses and Wayatt into another underwear and jogging trouser.
Outside, on the staircases, Wayatt tickles Brooke, while she can't stop gesticulating into his arms and chuckling. But when they see their friends on the table, with serious faces, they stop their jokes and look at them, surprised.
" I think you have much to tell us," Mackenzie says.
