"Welcome to high school, I hope I don't stay long."
-
I was twisting and turning in my sleep. Suddenly, I woke up in a panic. It was another nightmare. I've been having these nightmares a lot lately but, hopefully it doesn't mean anything.
I looked over to my watch on my nightstand to see the time. It was currently 7:30.
"Oh shit!" I quickly got out of my bed and started to get dressed. I was supposed to wake up 15 minutes ago. I had to hurry so I can meet my friends in front of the school before it started. I grabbed a bag of food my Dad left for me on the counter and ran out the door.
As I got close enough to see the school, I looked to see who was there waiting in front. I saw Sarah standing by herself by a pole and decided to scare her a little. I sneaked behind her and then jumped out.
"Boo!"
"Ah! What the fuck?" Sarah jumped, glaring when she realized it was me. "What the hell was that for, John B?"
I shrugged, grinning. "It was just for fun. You're still alive, right? Didn't have a heart attack."
"I had a heart attack looking at your ugly ass face." I almost jumped out of my skin as I heard a voice behind me. I turned around to see Kiara laughing. "You think you're so funny." I rolled my eyes.
"I am, I'm hilarious actually."
"Where's Pope and JJ?" Sarah complained. The security guards outside of the school were giving us dirty looks, which probably meant that they wanted us to go inside now.
"I dunno. JJ is JJ so this is expected but Pope has never been late a day in his life. This is kinda weird." Kiara sighed, crossing her arms as she returned a dirty look at one of the security guards.
"Okay, stop. You're going to get us in trouble. Even more trouble." I put a hand on her shoulder to stop her.
"I texted them like fifty million times. Fuck this shit." Sarah shoved her phone in her pocket and started walking towards the entrance. "Wait, Sarah! What about Pope and JJ?" I called after her.
"Fuck them too!"
Kiara groaned and walked after her. I sighed and went after them. No use in stopping Sarah when she was angry. JJ and Pope would get here eventually. Maybe.
Right before we walked through the doors, we heard someone screaming their asses off behind us. "Hey, y'all were really going to leave us?"
I turned around and saw JJ and Pope running up to us. "Well, you guys were taking forever!" Kiara exclaimed. "Where were you?"
"JJ overslept," Pope explained. "I had a feeling something was going to happen so I went to his house. Of course his stupid ass was sleeping, and we were already late so it took us a while. We're here though."
"If you are DONE with the story telling. You guys have been standing here for like ten minutes. Would you just go in already?" The security guard closest to us shouted.
"Okay, Jesus Christ." JJ said and walked inside of the school, us all walking behind him.
Even though we had already seen this school before because we went to orientation a couple weeks ago so we could see what the school was like, it was still intimidating. There was so much different now in August then there was in April.
