We finally made it to the castle. Alex was taken to the side so that he could be sorted. By the time we got up to the Great Hall, Alex came up to me and said he was in Gryffindor. When he said that, I wasn't so sure if we should keep dating due to the whole house rivalry thing between Slytherin and Gryffindor. But then I decided to screw it and go with it because I have a brother in Gryffindor. Besides, I really, really liked him. A lot.
We kissed at the doors, earning us a few stares and we went our separate ways. I guess technically, I'm not a Slytherin, it was just the way I was brought up, I guess, so it doesn't really matter. I sat next to Blaise, who was currently making out with Stefani. How cute. But at the same time, very gross sitting next to the kissing sounds and the moans, but that wasn't as bad as Pansy and Theo sitting several seats away and I could still hear them.
Draco was sitting across from me and, even though I wasn't looking at him, I knew he was staring at me, I could feel it on my face. I looked down as Dumbledore stood up and welcomed us back.
"Good evening," he said in a loud voice. "Welcome back for another wonderful term. Just one thing to bring up, we have a new student here with us to have a wonderful learning experience. Will Mr. Alexander Keynes please stand up?" Alex stood up at his place at the Gryffindor table, the whole table exploded with applause for the new student. He gave a shy smile and wave. "As you may not have noticed, he was sorted into Gryffindor." He sat back down blushing.
I looked at Draco and he was glaring at me. I stared back at him, I could see the emotions mirrored back at me. He felt the way I felt, but what was done, was done. No turning back. The glaring-staring situation was annoying the hell out of me, so I waved my hand slightly and sent a wind that knocked his goblet into his lap spilling pumpkin juice everywhere.
"WHAT THE HELL!" he yelled, jumping up from his seat, soaking wet. "Why'd you do that for, Tammy?!" he yelled glaring at me.
I could feel a hundred pairs of eyes fall onto us. "What makes you think I did it?" I said as I looked up at him from where I sat. From the corner of my eye, I saw Alex stand up in concern when he realized that it was his girlfriend getting yelled at.
"I know it was you," he snarled at me.
I stood up. "Well, it wasn't me. Maybe if you weren't glaring at me, then you would know that it was knocked over by something else, not me," I said, trying to keep my voice even and my smile down.
"You are so dead," he said. I felt a little hurt. Alex was making his way over to us at this point.
"If I am, then so are you," I said and I left the table and started walking out of the Great Hall. I walked up to Alex. "Don't follow us, Alex. I'll be okay," I said as concern washed over his face, along with pain and anger.
I continued to walk out and Draco walked out after me. I kept walking; I did not want to go to the common room so I wandered around. Somewhere along the way, however, I lost Draco. I went to the fourth floor and sat by a window. I looked out over the grounds and gave myself time to calm down and hold my tears back. Sometimes I really just want to lose control and hurt him. I sighed. But I know that if I do that, I would regret it for the rest of my life. "Because I still love him," I said, as one tear escaped and fell from my eyes, hitting the floor and it broke into a million little drops. Just like my heart.
