Lunch was slow, as always. I was eating at my table and as usual, Draco was working on whatever he was doing. I told him I was gonna bring up food for him. He said to meet him on the third floor at 12:45.
I ate fast and grabbed some food and rolled it in a couple of napkins. Some buttered rolls, a little bit of meat, and I put some pumpkin juice in a bottle. Blaise asked me where I was going and I told him I was going to take this food to Draco and I got up and left.
I got to the third floor at 12:43 and waited for Draco to show up. He never told me why he was here and I didn't know where he was working on this thing. But I didn't want to ask. I promised him I wouldn't.
12:45 on the dot. Where is h-
"Food!" I heard someone shout from behind me.
I turned and smiled as Draco came up to me and kissed me full on the lips. He gave me a huge smile as he went to sit down on a bench near us.
"Yes I brought you some food," I said as I handed him the food with a smile and sat down next to him. "You're starting to get bags under your eyes again, Draco," I frowned as I rubbed my thumbs under his eyes.
"Yea I know," he said as he stuffed half a roll into his mouth. "But I think I'm really close, it's just so frustrating sometimes," he said as he drank some of his pumpkin juice. "Soon it will all be over," he said solemnly.
I nodded my head as my eyebrows knitted together. "We have a paper due tomorrow, did you want me to help you with it?" I asked as I sat patiently next to him as he wolfed down the food I brought him.
"Um, yea could you?" he asked between bites of the meat. He looked so pale and thin. Maybe next time I should bring him more food. Or force him to come down and eat.
I nodded. When he was done, I took his napkin and the bottle and threw them away. We were sitting there resting and his head was on my shoulder.
"So you're close to finishing?" I asked.
"Yea, so far I haven't lost anything so that's a good sign," he said avoiding any and all obvious information. I nodded like I knew exactly what he was telling me. "I think I'll go to Potions with you today," he said suddenly as he looked at me with a huge smile. I smiled back in joy.
Before we went to class we went to the common room so we could get his things for class. It was almost as if his absence wasn't even noticed. I think even Snape let him get away with missing his classes and not turning in his assignments. Which wasn't a surprise to me as Snape liked Draco and I.
Harry told me that Snape had a thing for our mom when they were attending Hogwarts. And I look a lot like our mom except for the hair. Everytime he looked at me, I always saw something hidden away in his eyes.
We got to class just before Slughorn burst in. Today we were going to work on a healing potion for small wounds.
Draco was a natural as always. By the end of class, only five of the twenty students in class had successfully brewed the healing potion, Draco and I included. The other three students weren't from Hufflepuff so obviously they weren't too happy that the five of us earned twenty points a piece.
Draco and I walked together until we had to go to different classes, holding hands the whole way. I had Charms and he had Transfiguration. He gave me a small peck on the lips and went to his class with a wave.
I had a really giddy feeling in my stomach as I went into my classroom. I was really happy that Draco was almost done. That was great news. Soon the whole stress of this Death Eater business will be over.
However, I was absolutely wrong.
