Draco's POV
I was tired of working. I hated this job given to me by the Dark Lord. Plus there was a damn nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I couldn't quite figure. I suppose it was because I had to tell her everything. No more secrets she said. No more lies she said.
I wrapped everything up and ran back to the common room. As I was running I glanced at my watch, just after lunch, she should be headed back to the common room by now.
I burst into the common room three minutes later, my disheveled appearance earned me a couple of strange looks but I ignored them and pressed on. I ran down the hall towards her room and swung her door open. Empty.
I looked around for a possible sign as to where she might be. I passed her desk and saw a little note. I read it and I could feel myself get hot with anger.
Keynes.
I sprinted out of the common room determined to get there. My muscles ached but I was too angry to stop, adrenaline was pumping through my veins and my heart was pounding in my ears. Oh man was I pissed.
Who the hell did that guy think he was? Stealing the girl...that I stole from him... I slowed down a bit, just a bit, I was still plowing my way through the small groups of people in the corridors.
Right. I stole her back after I lost her to him. But then he stole her back after I had her last term. Oh man. She bounced between the two of us. Whether it was intentional or not, she must have such torn up feelings. God, I am such an ass. I shouldn't have been an ass about her being Potter's twin. This all never would have happened if I had been a better boyfriend.
I ran up the stairs two by two. I reached the door and opened it. There by the railing was Alex, leaning over the railing. I saw black hair flowing just behind him. Man, I got so mad. I ran over and grabbed his shoulder and threw him off her. Poor thing. She looked frightened out of her mind. I loved this girl, I would protect her with my life.
Her eyes went wide when she focused on my face. Then I felt the air get knocked out of me from my left. I was thrown back a couple of feet, almost sliding under the railing and over the edge.
I looked up and saw Alex standing between me and Tammy. I clenched my teeth and my fists as I scrambled to get to my feet and ran at him. I tackled him and we fell back. Damn these railings and all these freaking open areas and the far fucking drop from here. We, again, almost fell off.
We scuffled on the ground and I could hear her yelling for us to stop, yea that was going to happen.
I could tell that we were matched in a fist fight, but I had a bit more height and more power, but I was exhausted from staying up all night working on the cabinet. I was losing, I could tell. He was punching and kicking. I was punching and kicking back as well, but not as effective as he was, the adrenaline rush was starting to take its toll. I was crashing.
With every punch I felt myself getting closer to open air. Then I felt the rail pressing into my lower back.
One more punch in the gut and a final shrug, and I was over the edge, literally. I tried to reach out and grab something, but my fingers only touched air. I heard a bloodcurdling scream as air rushed into my face. I couldn't open my eyes, I was losing consciousness.
I was falling, with no way of stopping, except hitting the ground 200 feet below.
