Alex's POV

I was sitting in the common room on the couch doing my Defense Against The Dark Arts essay. Three feet about the history of werewolves. Totally boring.

I was almost done when the door swung open hitting the wall behind it, causing the Fat Lady to swear loudly, and someone was yelling my name. She jumped me and that caused my arm to knock my ink bottle all over my essay.

"God damn it, Lavender!" I yelled as I tried to stop the ink from dripping onto the floor. I tried grabbing for my wand, but she grabbed my hand and pulled me up.

"What do you want, Lavender?" I said in an annoyed voice as I tried to regain my balance and my arm.

"I saw Draco and Tammy," she started. "They came out of a classroom together. Who knows how long they were in there?"

"And what's your point?" I said in an uninterested voice as I started to clean up the mess she made me cause.

"What?" she said in a surprised voice. "Your girlfriend is cheating on you."

"No she isn't. I know she isn't. As much as she loves him, she doesn't know I know, she would never cheat on me," I said as I started to use magic to get whatever ink was left back into the bottle. My essay was ruined though.

"How could you possibly know that?" she asked.

"I am very observant. Besides, we dated back in Beauxbatons for three years," I said as I carefully picked up my essay and threw it into a trash can. "She got a lot of offers for newer, better, richer boyfriends, but she stayed with me. She's loyal, unlike you," I said not caring about her expression as I dusted off my hands.

"Also, if she were to cheat on me, she would break up with me," I said.

I looked back and Lavender was gone. She can't take the fact that she's a hoe? Pity. I knew she was a slut and I had only been at Hogwarts for a little while.

I shrugged and went back to try and remember what I had written down. I heard a faint knock on the door. I sighed and got up since I was the only one in the common room. I opened the door and Tammy was standing there. She smiled when she saw me.

"I brought some of my work from last year," she said as I ushered her into the room.

"That's great!" I said. "I need to rewrite my Defense essay anyway, Lavender came in and I knocked my ink bottle all over it."

"She is rather annoying," she said as we sat down and she leaned against me. Her body was so warm, is it weird to say that I love the way her body feels against mine? Yea it sounds weird.

I started working on my essay again and she started leafing through my papers for something she could do.

"I love how you always insist on helping people," I said as I wrote word after word about werewolves.

"And I love you," she said as she looked up at me. "So I guess it works out."

She said she loves me, she never ever said that before. But even though it was the first time, I felt nothing but pain. No, she doesn't really love me. The smile she had on, it looked fake. So I shared her smile and bent down to kiss her.

"Yea," I said, "we're even."

The smile, the kiss, the love. It was all fake. It wasn't real. It was a lie.

Tammy's POV

I left the Gryffindor common room at five so I could go back to my room and change for dinner. I went down to the dungeons and opened the door. I walked down the hall to my room. I opened the door and lying on my bed, was Draco. Was I supposed to meet him here? What is he doing here?

I went over and put my hand on his arm. I was about to shake him awake when I saw just how peaceful he looked when he slept. He had dark bags under his eyes and it looked like he hadn't slept all that well lately, if at all. I took off my robes and threw it on the chair. I went and lay down next to him. I put my head on his shoulder. Oh, yea. I got up and took my wand out of my pocket and locked the lock.

We shouldn't be disturbed. He needed his rest. I put my arms around him and hugged him closer to me. I felt so sorry for this boy. Then I remembered something. I took his left arm, careful not to wake him, and pulled the sleeve up. There on his arm was the dreaded symbol of the poster child for EVIL. The Dark Mark looked stationary, but if you stared at it long enough, the snake looked like it was moving.

He never told me. I wonder how long he was one of them. But I put his sleeve down and let his arm fall on my waist. I wrapped my arms around him protectively and hugged him close to me. Something in that dream, something I didn't know about, had caused him to smile as I held him close to me. In that moment, I wanted to protect him from all the evil in the world.
