Chapter 2

Today you were unpacking your bedroom, normally you would procrastinate but you were so excited to get settled in.

'I miss cookie.' You thought to yourself. Cookie is your Siamese cat. 'That traitor! How can she like my mom more.'

You sighed and sat down on your bed taking a brief break from unpacking when your phone rang.

"Hello." You put on your phone call voice.
(You know the one. lolll that sweet innocent call voice)

"Hello this is y/n, correct?" You could recognize the voice immediately.

"Hi yes this is her." You almost stumbled on your words.

"It's Pakunoda from the cat café. I don't think I gave you my name before."

"Oh hi Pakunoda it's nice to hear back from you." You tried your best to be professional.

"Thank you for bringing me your resume. I was thinking you could come in for a day to see what it's like, almost a test run and if everything goes smoothly you can have the job."

You contained your excitement and answered professionally.

"Yes I can definitely do that, what day would you like me to come in?"

"How about tomorrow? You can come in at 9"

"Yes sounds perfect."

"Alright, see you then y/n."

You hung up the call feeling extremely excited and anxious. You really didn't want to mess up this test day and fuck up the opportunity for this perfect job.

You decided to continue unpacking, you just couldn't sit still.

"All done!" You clapped your hands together. It didn't take half as much time as your thought.

'Guess I don't have that much stuff.'

It was getting late so you ate dinner and got settled into bed. Of course you could hardly sleep at all feeling very nervous and excited.

You woke up early to get ready and give yourself time to walk there. It was so close and you enjoyed the walk so much yesterday so there was no need to waste any gas money.

On your way there the few shop owners that were opening up smiled and waved.

Pakunoda greeted you at the doors and started showing you around.

"And this is the back room where all the cats sleep." She turned on the lights revealing a neat and tidy room with a large bed, tv, and multiple cat trees. "It used to be my room but I can't stay at night so I cleaned it up for you.

"Wow it's super nice!" You looked around.

"I completely cleaned everything, its a new mattress and sheets as well."

"Wow thank you for doing all this."

"It's the least that can be provided for your job. If there is anything else you need comfort wise tell me and I will get it for you immediately."

You followed her out to the front where she started to teach you how to use the coffee machines.

"Mostly your job is just to care for the cats at night and help out with some things but if I have to leave I'll need you to take over."

"It's okay I would love to work the café too! I can work throughout the day otherwise you would just be paying me to sleep and feed the cats." You smiled.

"Well look at you miss worker bee." She chuckled. "If you ever want a break just let me know, otherwise you would be here all the time."

To be honest the environment here was so nice you didn't mind if you had to stay all the time.

Just as you were about to speak a customer walked through the door setting off the cute little bells.

"Here." She passed you a menu. "Go greet her.

You took the menu and walked over the front door. Noticing the cats were already saying hello to an elderly women at the front. She was holding a black cat with white paws and a little white moustache.

"Aww so cute!" You couldn't help but address the cat first. "Hi how can help you?" You smiled.

"Well this is my daughters cat milky, she recently passed away and I took him in but, he just doesn't get along with my cat marbles at home." The woman looked very sad. "I don't want to get rid of him but he needs somewhere to go."

You felt Pakunoda's presence behind you.

"We can care for him." She spoke without hesitation. "That way you can come see him whenever you want." She smiled so sweetly at the woman it warmed your heart. All you could do was admire her and her kindly spoken words.

"Come in for a coffee or dessert, it's on the house." You watched as Pakunoda seated this women and comforted her. You realized you were just standing doing nothing so you snapped out of it and followed them.

The women introduced herself as Mel and asked for a coffee.

"Think you can handle it?" Pakunoda asked.

"Yes I'll be right back with it."

"Bring her a cookie as well." She smiled.

You went behind the counter ready to start your first task. You made the coffee glancing over to see Mel cry as she was comforted by the beautiful blonde.

You grabbed a fresh cookie taking in its design. It was a chocolate chip cookie with a pink nose and whiskers drawn with icing.

'So cute' you smiled as you walked to the table.

"Here you go." You placed the items down and sat beside Pakunoda.

You listened to Mel talk about her daughter and how the cats hated each other.

You couldn't help but feel attracted to the way Pakunoda interacted with Mel. She was extremely comforting and soft spoken.

After Mel said her tearful goodbye to milky you guys got back to work. You followed her behind the counter and through a door leading to the kitchen.

"This is where all the baking gets done. We have a couple of different deserts and I have all the recipes here in this binder. If you follow this they should come out perfect every time."

You nodded your head to all her instructions.

"I'll definitely need a lot of help baking cookies, they sell out so fast because a lot of people come in to buy a bunch at a time."

You followed and watched as she showed you everything you needed to know.

"Alright, the jobs yours if you want it. You are a great listener and the cats love you, I have no reason not to trust you at this point." She leaned up against the counter and tucked her hair behind her ear.

"Yes! I would love the job." You had a huge smile plastered across your face.

She chuckled and patted your head. "Okay how about we close for tomorrow and I can teach you how to bake all the desserts, then you can start working the next day."

"Sounds good!"

"You obviously don't have to stay here tonight, you can get settled in tomorrow or the next day when you start work."

The whole way home you couldn't help but smile. You got the job!! It was so exciting! And tomorrow you get to spend a whole day baking with Pakunoda and you were hoping to get to know her a little better.
