Chapter 20

Pakunoda got into the bed beside you, she wasn't leaving tonight but you couldn't think about anything other than your interaction with Mel.

"Still upset?" She asked as you fiddled with the corner of the blanket.

"Kinda."

"Rightfully so, I don't understand where that came from."

"I know, she was all like 'yeah right, like you wouldn't take the first opportunity to fuck her.' Or something like that-"

"Wait, Mel said that?!" Pakunoda propped herself up with her arm.

"Uhhh yeah, didn't I tell you this?"

"Well you never said that! Mel actually said the f-word?"

"Yeah I know right I was so shocked."

"For all the time I've known Mel she has never once sworn before."

"Never?"

"Never. Not even a slip up."

"Well that's strange..."

Suddenly you heard the sound of glass shattering outside.

"What was that?" You asked gripping the blanket.

"I'm not sure, let me go check-" You grabbed her wrist stopping her from getting off the bed.

"Fuck do you mean go check?! Don't you know that's how everyone dies in horror movies!" You whisper yelled.

"Yeah well I'm not a character in a horror movie." She tried to get up but you pulled her back onto the bed.

"You'll share the same fate as one if you go check!"

"What? no come on let go. What if someone was there and they got away?"

"Then we thank God they're gone. Duh." Pakunoda ended up listening to you and staying in bed. "It's fine, the doors are locked and all the cats are inside. I hear noises all the time when you're gone."

"You do?" She furrowed her brows. "Why haven't you said anything."

"Oh I only heard a thud here and there, honestly it was nothing."

"I don't like that."

"Huh?"

"Tell me whenever something happens, even if it just scares you a little bit still tell me okay."

"Yeah.. sure okay no problem." It was weird that she got so serious, it almost made you worry more about the noises you heard. "Are you all scared now?" You poked her side trying to lighten the mood.

"Who me? Scared? Yeah right." She turned away and pulled the blankets over her. "Why? Are you?" She asked peeking over her shoulder.

"Who me? No way." You copied her and turned onto your side, waiting for a moment. "Okay I'm a little spooked." You turned over and cuddled into her, grabbing one of her boobs.

"What are you doing?" She chuckled.

"Stress reliever."

"You're weird."

Today as you were working you were just a giant ball of anxiety. You were dreading Mel's arrival because you knew Pakunoda was going to talk to her about what happened.

Soon enough, the moments you had been dreading arrived as Mel walked through the café doors.

"Come on." Pakunoda nudged your arm.

"No I'm staying here."

"What?"

"Go without me I don't wanna." She could tell how anxious you were and it was obvious your feet were planted into the ground so there was no sense trying to force you.

Pakunoda walked up to Mel and seated her at a booth with Milky following behind. Milky was back to his normal self climbing all over her.

"Actually Mel I was hoping we could have a little chat about yesterday." Pakunoda said as she sat across from her.

"Of course, Did something happen?"

"You don't remember?"

"I was feeling under the weather yesterday, was I here? To be honest with you the whole day is a blur."

"Um yeah you were here. Actually you said some hurtful things to y/n."

"I did?! Oh no I'm so terribly sorry! Is she okay? Where is she I need to apologize!"

"Wait so you don't remember being here at all?" Pakunoda questioned.

"No but I do come every day so it makes sense that I was here. You know my memory isn't as good as it used to be. Oh gosh poor girl. What did I say to her?"

Pakunoda filled Mel in about the details of what was said. Mel was in tears, she felt so upset that those words were said to you and even worse that they were said by her.

"I can't believe those words exited my mouth." Mel wiped her tears away.

"I thought it was strange especially because I've never heard you swear before."

"I haven't said a curse word in 30 years." Pakunoda didn't tell Mel about Milky pouncing on her, if she knew she somehow upset the cat she would probably be beside herself and she was already very upset. "Where's y/n I have to apologize. She must hate me, please you have to know I would never want to hurt her. She reminds me so much of when my daughter was that age, I guess you could say I think of her as my grandchild." She rambled on.

"Mel," Pakunoda reached for her hand. "I've know you for years and I've also seen how you are with y/n, I know you love her." You had been listening in on the conversation and it was obvious Mel was telling the truth. You walked up to the booth and folded your arms staring down at Pakunoda.

"How dare you make my grandmother cry." You teased her to lighten the mood a bit. "Mel don't worry about it, you don't even remember it-" Pakunoda moved over for you to sit down beside her.

"But that's no excuse. I treated you with great disrespect and I'm so sorry."

"Don't sweat it, honestly I'm just happy your back to your usual self and feeling better." You gave her a warm smile. Pakunoda rubbed your thigh under the table giving you comfort. She knew you hated confrontation, it was kinda like she was saying good job.

"I just feel horrible about it, and I hate to change the subject but," She wiped her tears away. "Does this mean you two are together?"

You both froze for a moment then looked at each other.

"I know that look." Mel teased. "Well that calls for a celebration! Let me take you guys shopping to celebrate and apologize."
