Chapter 8
You felt very unsettled after your conversation with Mel. There was so much information for you to over analyze, your brain was just itching to make up a bunch of scenarios.
You grabbed Mel's dishes and took them to the sink to wash. This time when Pakunoda walked up behind you you didn't only feel your usual nervousness due to having the hots for her, you were feeling a little uneasy.
She placed her hand on the sink, using it to lean on. She tilted her head and spoke. "Wanna share a cookie?"
"Oh ye-ah." Your voice cracked from nervousness. Pakunoda picked up on your body language and stepped back.
"I'm sorry, it seems I've made you uncomfortable."
"No no! Sorry I was just deep in thought. I would love some of that cookie." You smiled in an attempt to ease some tension.
You followed Pakunoda out to the display case. The café was empty for the time being so you tried to put your thoughts aside and enjoy the one on one time with Pakunoda.
She grabbed a chocolate chip cookie and broke it in half. You didn't realize that you were just standing there watching her.
"You're staring." She smirked.
"Huh- no I just spaced out I-I tend to do that a lot." You grew embarrassed.
She put her hand on the counter and leaned forward. "Sure." She winked.
Suddenly two men walked through the door and startled you.
"I'll take care of that." She pushed off the counter and grabbed a menu before greeting the couple.
You crouched down and sat behind the counter, resting your head on your knees out of embarrassment.
'I can't believe I got caught staring! I need to stop eating this girl alive with my eyes. She's taken. I'm not a home wrecker! Ugh I say that as if I could pull Pakunoda anyway.'
Pakunoda walked back behind the counter and stopped in front of you. "Silly girl. What are you doing on the floor?" She extentened her hand to you.
You took her hand and stood up. "I don't even know anymore." You face palmed.
She chuckled at you and patted your head. "There, there. Can you make a banana split for them?"
"Yeah." As you walked into the kitchen you heard Pakunoda silently giggling behind you.
'Glad she finds my embarrassment amusing.' *internally cries*
Before you knew it the day was over and you were closing. You were surprised Pakunoda hadn't run off yet.
"You don't have to leave yet?" You questioned as she wiped down a table.
"Oh actually I don't have to go anywhere tonight so I was going to do some extra clean up then check into a hotel."
You were confused because up until this point it seemed like her man was very stern on them meeting every night. Maybe something happened between them.
"You don't have to see your lover tonight?" You blurted out without thinking, instantly regretting it.
Pakunoda stopped wiping the table and gave you her full attention. "Lover?"
"I'm so sorry I can't believe I said that! Your personal life is none of my business."
"Now what gave you that idea?" She raised an eyebrow, placing her hands on her hips.
"I just assumed that you were meeting a boyfriend-"
"Bold of you to assume I would have a boyfriend." She said, sitting down and crossing her leg over the other.
"You don't?"
"No. I do not have a boyfriend, or any lover of the sort."
"I just thought because I smelled the hotel shampoo." At this point you were pretty much just speaking your mind.
"I'm staying in a hotel because I gave you the room." She blankly responded, a little dumbfounded at your cluelessness.
"Oh-"
'YOU IDIOT!!!'
"You don't have to stay in a hotel. You can stay here I mean it's your place and I can sleep on the couch or we can sleep in the bed together-"
'WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY YOU DUMB BI-'
"I mean because we're both girls and all so it wouldn't be weird!" You looked at your feet because you were too scared to see her reaction.
"Okay. But I can take the couch, I gave you the room so it's yours."
"No I can't let you take the couch honestly!!" You lifted your head up and your eyes met with hers.
"Then looks like we're both sleeping in the bed."
