Chapter 6

"Y/n... you're crying." Pakunoda had a concerned look on her face. She hesitated reaching her arm out but pulled it back, not sure how to comfort you.

'Heh- what da hell-'

"Oh whattttt I'm crying? That's soooo weird aha anyways let me send this coffee out." You said while wiping your stream of tears.

"I'll take care of that. Go take a breather out back, I'll come meet you in a second." She smiled and took the coffee from you.

You did as she said and walked back into your room. There was a door leading out back to a little personal porch area. You took a seat on the steps and stopped yourself from crying.

'That's sooo embarrassing! Having to step outside because I'm having a breakdown on my first day of working.'

Pakunoda walked around the side of the building and approached you, sitting down on the step below you.

"I'm so sorry, this is so embarrassing I'm honestly fine to get back to work." You sniffed and wiped under your eyes one last time.

"I won't ask about anything but know that if you need to you can leave at any time, The most important thing is that you are here for the cats at night." Her smooth voice was soothing to you, you just wanted to listen to her talk forever.

"Thank you but I'm fine now, we can head in."

"You can talk to me about anything. I care about the well being of my employee more than anything." You didn't understand it. You felt so comfortable with this woman you had just met. You wanted to just tell her everything.

"Thank you. I guess seeing those girls reminded me of high school."

"It must have been hard leaving your home and friends." She spoke with such sincerity.

"Yeah, aha just reminiscing." If only she knew how big of a lie that is, if she only knew how easy it was to leave, what you were running from.

"I'll head back in now and give you a minute." She stood up and started walking away before turning around. "Oh and don't worry about serving the group of girls, I'll handle it. There are a couple of dishes in the sink you can do those." She smiled, that warm beautiful smile. As she walked away you found your eyes glued to the way she swayed her hips.

You stood up and felt the refreshing cool breeze on your tear stained face. You thanked your brain for not spilling your past onto your new pretty boss.

'Thank god I didn't open that can of worms, this is supposed to be a fresh start.'

You brush off your clothes and head inside, locking the back door. Work went smoothly for the rest of the day until Pakunoda got a call.

She picked up the call immediately then walked off into the kitchen.

Again, you weren't trying to ease drop you just happened to hear a voice from the phone. You couldn't make out what they were saying but it was definitely a man.

"I have to leave now. I really didn't want to leave you to close on your first day." She pinched the bridge of her nose out of annoyance.

"No it's okay! Don't worry I got it under control." You flashed her a promising smile. She gave you the run down on how to close the café and left.

'Is her lover so strict that she has to leave work?'

You felt heated with jealousy and anger, this man would just call her whenever and she will jump to meet up with him immediately. It reminded you of a past relationship you had.

You finished up work and fed the cats, double checking that all doors were locked.

As you were brushing your teeth you could have sworn you heard a thud. You quickly turned off the tap and stood really still trying to listen as hard as you could.

You waited but didn't hear anything else. You didn't want to ignore the sound, but you sure as hell did not want to investigate it. So you stood in the middle of the bathroom for a bit.

After not hearing anymore sounds you decided to resume brushing your teeth and continue on as normal. Once you got into bed you couldn't shake the feeling of anxiety. You didn't know if you actually even heard a noise, you were the type of person who would think they heard a sound or saw a shadow when in reality there was nothing there.

It took you longer to fall asleep tonight, unable to feel completely relaxed in the empty café.

—————

You woke up early to feed the cats and get ready so Pakunoda wouldn't have to do worry about it. You smelt a sweet scent coming from the kitchen. Upon entry you saw Pakunoda baking a fresh batch of cookies. You instantly grabbed a apron and put it on.

"Need some help?" You started washing your hands in the sink.

"Thanks." She replied.

As you were laying chunks of cookie dough onto the baking sheet you noticed a scratch across her cheek. You didn't ask her about it but you took note.

You were thinking up possible reasons for someone to have a scratch like that and concluded that it was probably just one of the cats.

You continued to roll more cookie dough balls and place them down when you felt a presence come up behind you.

"Actually you should space them out a bit more incase they spread into each other while they bake." Her breath tickled your ear sending a shiver down your spine.

"Oh yeah tha-" You turned your head making direct eye contact with her boobs. Instantly turning your head back to the cookie sheet. "Th-thank you."

She chuckled and backed up, realizing she made you flustered.

'What the fuck- put those mommy milkers away! I nearly crashed into them! Shordy walking around like she don't got two giant weapons strapped to her chest, Almost took me out!!'
