Chapter 23

You got out of the shower first and went to bed waiting for Pakunoda to join you. She came into the bedroom and started putting on her burgundy suit.

"Why aren't you putting on your pyjamas?"

"Unfortunately I have to go out. Will you be okay when I'm gone?" She finished dressing and sat on the edge of the bed.

"Yeah I'm fine. It's just like any other time." You pulled the blankets up and turned over.

Pakunoda let out a sigh. "You know I don't want to go."

"So don't." You sat up and rested your head on her shoulder. "We can go again and again all night if you stay." You kissed her neck then pulled away to see her reaction, she was definitely shocked.

"You just get bolder by the day huh." She chuckled.

"What are you laughing at?"

"Nothing I just didn't expect to hear you say something like that." She cupped the side of your face and brushed her thumb over your lips. "But be careful what you wish for, you already look pretty
worn out already my dear."

"That's just because of the hot shower." You rolled your eyes.

"Sure." She winked at you and got off the bed. "Unfortunately I can't take you up on that offer right now but I'm hoping I can another time."

"Sorry the offer only stands for tonight."

"Well that's just shit." She folded her arms. "What a shit offer, I really can't have a coupon situation where I cash it in later?"

"Nope too bad."

"Damn." She walked out but before closing the door she peeked back into the room. "I love you, but fuck you."

You froze not really sure if you heard her right.

'Did she just say I love you?'

It was obvious that you both loved each other but it was never directly said, It didn't feel like it needed to be said out loud. You both knew how the other person felt through their actions. It was hard to explain but you knew she loved you just by the way she held you.

"Sorry, I kinda ruined the whole romance of the unspoken words didn't I?"

"What? No.. I love you too. There now we both said it." You thought it would be harder to say out loud than it actually was. Pakunoda walked back into the room and wrapped her arms around you.

"Hey don't you have to leave or something?"

"But I can't after you just told me you love me for the first time." She said hugging you tighter.

"Oh come on you knew before."

"Yeah but hearing you say it is much different. I'm all excited again just hearing it." She said slowly pulling away from the hug. You saw that her face was very red and she was trying to hide a smile.

"Well my offer has expired now." You turned your head away, seeing her like that was too much.

"That's too bad." She said as she leaned in and kissed your cheek. She got off the bed tapping your leg twice as she said goodbye.

You were always sad when she left but this time was really hurting your heart. After hearing her say she loves you all you wanted to do was hold her for the night and never be apart again.

Normally you wouldn't doze off so easily but the events that happened in the shower put your ass to sleep like NyQuil.

You were awakened by a lot of noise coming from outside, it sounded like trash rummaging or something like that. The sun wasn't up yet so it must have been the middle of the night, the fact that it was dark outside and you were alone made it ten times scarier.

'What da fuck?'

You didn't want to get out of bed because you were scared, like why the fuck was there always something happening when Pakunoda left? The more you listened you realized that someone or something was definitely going through the trash. Obviously you didn't want to face whatever was out there so you stayed in bed and hid under the covers. You told yourself it was just raccoons and tried to go back to sleep. Was letting whatever was out there tear apart the trash a good idea? No, but you sure as hell weren't gunna be the one to check it out.

Even after the rummaging stopped you couldn't fall asleep. Every time you were left alone you felt an eerie feeling or like someone was watching you, it was unsettling to say the least.

When Pakunoda came back her hair and clothes were dripping wet but you didn't care, you got out of bed and gave her a big hug.

"Is it raining?"

"Yeah but now you're all wet too." She said placing her hand on the back of your head.

"I don't care." You squeezed her tighter. "I think raccoons or something went through the garbage."

"Really? Well shit that's annoying." She started taking off her wet clothes. "I'll have to deal with it tomorrow when I get up."

"I'll help you."

You woke up with Pakunoda and walked out of the back door to check the garbage. Something definitely went through the trash, the garbage was torn apart and thrown everywhere.

"What the fuck were those raccoons on?" Your jaw literally dropped.

"Yep.. that's a giant mess to clean up. I'll go get gloves and trash bags." Pakunoda said walking back inside.

You were looking at the huge mess when you noticed something shining amongst the garbage. You leaned forward to get a closer look when you recognized the item. Feeling your heart sink into your stomach you grabbed it and hid it in your pocket as fast as you could.

Pakunoda walked back out and handed you gloves. "Hey everything alright? You look like you've seen a ghost."

"Huh no I'm fine sorry. Just spacing out as usual." You put on the gloves and helped cleaned up all the garbage before going back inside. When Pakunoda went to the washroom you pulled the item out of your pocket to make sure it was truly what you thought it was.

'This pendant... So I wasn't seeing things. This is definitely that necklace.'

A necklace you left behind when you moved, but how did it end up here?
