'Why?'

'What why??'

'Why do think they  are evil?'

'Because they consider me as an evil.'

This is a conversation between two best friends....one was the eldest son of acting King of Hastinapur, King Dhritarashtra, other was the son of a poor charioteer. Though they had a huge gap between them because of their social status, but still they managed to be best friends.

Duryodhan the eldest of the three sons of King Dhritarashtra and Queen Gandhari was considered as a bad omen by the elders and the subjects of the kingdom. When he was born it was a stormy night and the jackals were howling outside the palace, so the Mahamantri who was also their uncle Vidur proclaimed him as evil. The elders also asked the king to kill him and his three younger brothers to protect the kingdom. 'He was going to be the downfall of our family and Kingdom,' that was the exact word they uttered. But the king and queen denied. Maybe it was the first time the blind king went against his family member to protect his sons. Now the entire family always blamed the king to be blinded by his sons.

The prince had three little brothers, Dusshassha, Vikarna and Yuyutsu. Yuyutsu though his stepbrother from his father's maid Sugandha but still considered as a brother by Duryodhana and his brothers. The elders like their grandfather Bheesm, grandmothers Ambika, Ambalika, uncle Vidur and great grandmother Satyavati all avoided them. The little princes did their best to please them but their condition was worsened by the presence of their cousins. Their uncle Pandu had five sons.....actually not their uncle, those five sons were sons from 4 different Devs. So when they came back to the palace, the entire kingdom rejoiced. Till now everybody in the palace avoided the Kauravas, now everyone openly started to mick them. 'The Pandavas are so Dharmvaan..the Pandavas are so talented,' but for the four Kaurav brothers, 'They are just evils, don't they learn nothing from the cousins, why don't they follow dharma, why do they respect the lower classes and don't respect (buttering, according to Duryodhan) the Brahmins', were the accusations they had to listen everyday. All these baseless differentiations always irked Dyryodhana. But of all these problems, the only thing that gave him some peace was his best friend 'Karna'.

So like every day, after their customary class (more likely praising the Pandavas by the Guru) the Kaurava brother came to meet their friend in the garden. Playing with Karna was another thing that annoyed their elders. 'Why do you play with that sutputra,' asked their great grandmother Satyavati. 'Why don't you play with the minister's son like your cousins or read and talk about Dharma like Yudhistir', asked Ambalika. 'I know you have nothing good in you but at least try to change yourself by being associated with some real dharmvaan person,' said uncle Vidur. But Duryodhana knew that Karna was more intelligent, talented and witty than his so-called 'perfect' cousins.

Duryodhana, 'My evil cousins has turned my life into a living hell.'

From that their conversation started.

Karna, 'Mitra, who told you that you guys are evil? No one is born evil. It is the circumstances that made us take decisions either good or bad. If our decisions are intentionally harmful to others then we are evil, if not then we are good.'

Dusshasshan, 'Karna but how are we going to show them that we can also be good. Our elders will never understand us. And that Bheem, he always bullied us. Sometimes I feel like killing that fatty.'

Karna, 'Rajkumar, don't even think about it. If anything wrong happens then you guys will be blamed and your parents will be shamed. Remember one thing, the right thing can never be achieved with the wrong path.'

Vikarna, 'Mitra, sometimes I feel like you are same like Bhrata Yudhistir. Always giving sermons.'

Karna, 'Please....don't compare me with that parrot, I have a standard. I told what I learned from experience, not like him who always repeats whatever written in the books.'
