Two Kingdoms

A week later,

After a long preparation both the Pandavas and Kauravas left for their respective part of kingdoms. They were asked to rule independently and HP would only intervene if someone tried to attack them. Both Gandhari and Kunti prayed to Tridev, Tridevis, Ganesh, Kartikeya and Dev Vasusen for their sons' safety. But when Gandhari asked for blessings for all the cousins, Kunti prayed for the failure of the Kauravas. But she forgot that the Supreme  Gods were impartial and when someone prayed to harm others, most of the time it backfires on the evil person itself. 

Khandavprashta,

Pandavas fought with the Nagas who lived in the forest and killed them. Krishna also went with them to see the preparation and asked the Pandavas not to kill the nagas but they had declined his words saying that Nagas were impure, so it was their sacred duty to kill them. Krishna left Khandavprastha thinking about Pandavas arrogance. Seeing this slaughter of Nagas, king Takshak tried to fight but he lost to Arjun. Devraj Indra came to save Takshak but he fought half-heartedly seeing his son and was impressed with Arjun's prowess. He even ordered Agnidev to give Gandeev to Arjun so that he could burn the entire forest properly. Krishna asked them not to burn the entire forest down as it would destroy thousands of plants, animals and birds. Begrudgingly the Pandavas follow Krishna's advice and cleared a small fragment of the land to establish their kingdom. The Pandavas also caught Mayadanav who resided in the forest and ordered him to make a magical kingdom more beautiful than Dwarka. Mayadanav agreed and made a magical kingdom that had beautiful houses for the subjects, parks, temples, hospitals, schools for the higher class people etc. 

Anga,

The Kauravas also reached Anga and they were shocked to see the condition. The region was completely barren, only a small forest at the border but there was no water, so all trees were dried, leafless.

Yuyutsu, 'Jyasht, how could we develop this barren land. There is nothing here.'

Dury, 'Brothers have faith in ourselves. We should develop this area. The tribals here are really in pain and we have to help them, I was just wondering why mahamahim, did not take care of this area?'

Shakuni as Shubal, 'Because according to you illustrious Kurus, the poor tribals who are living here are not worthy of your attention. Because of all the blind prejudices, we have against the tribals, we think of them as impure, untouchables or demons. As they live in forests or mountains, we thought they are an uncouth bunch of people but we forget that they are the children of nature. They are the ones who taught us how to utilize natural resources without exploiting them. But the upper-class people don't even want to see them as human.'

Vikarna, 'You are right Shreeman, we have to redeem the mistakes done by our elders. We will make their lives better.'

Karna,' For that you have to earn their trust first. Anga shares a border with Magadha and Jarasandha tortures these tribals for a long time.  He kidnapped the tribals and sold them as slaves in the market. That is why all of them are hiding in the mountain. We have to assure them that we are not like him. First we have to find them and then arrange shelters, foods and water for them.'

 Dury asked the soldiers who came with them to go and search the mountains and found the people hiding there. The guards brought a few of them and they were so scared that they started screaming and tried to free themselves. But Yuyutsu assured them and both he and Vikarna gave them food and water and told them that they came here to protect them. One of the men angrily said, 'So now you remember us? Where were you, when that cruel Magadhraj and their men tortured us and kidnapped us? We even tried to inform the king or the ministers but we were not even allowed to go near the city. They either killed or kidnapped almost our entire race but our own king did not do anything to protect us.'
