For the first time after their birth, the Kauravas were getting praise and fame. Somehow the news that the Kaurava brothers had unmasked the immoral minister and businessman who were black-marketing the food grains and it was Duryodhana who was intelligent enough to look through Drupad's illusion and defeated him, became public. The citizens who always thought of the Kauravas as weak, good for nothing and product of bad fate were surprised. But their achievement in stopping illegal hoarding of foods really helped the poor citizens at the time of famine and they were highly grateful to them. Vidur tried to salvage the situation by giving Yudihstir the responsibility to distribute the grains among the citizens but much to their dismay the citizens were continuously asking about the Kaurava brothers. Many of them after getting the foods thanked Yudistir but also said, 'Your cousins were very brave, Rajkumar. They arrested that evil minister and that Mahajon (businessman). He saved us from dying due to poverty. Please give our regards to them.'

Some old people also asked Yudhistir to give their blessings to the Kauravas. Once during the distribution, Duryodhana was passing from there, all the citizens ran to him to say their thanks. This angered the Pandavas and Bheem openly insulted those citizens and mocked Duryodhana. These also created some doubts among the citizens. Were the Kauravas really bad, or were the Pandavas really that good? From Bheem's behavior, it was clearly evident that he was jealous of the kauravas.  All these irked the Pandavas, Kaustav and Vidur. Vidur at first tried to suppress the news about the Kauravas success but somehow (or by someone) the news spread to the entire Hastinapur like wildfire. (Thanks to RUDRA, for this lovely idea)

Bheesm's chamber,

Vidur, 'Tatshri, we need to somehow stop these rumors about the Kauravas good deeds.'

Bheesm, 'But Vidur, they did it right. They showed us how wrong we are in believing those ministers blindly. ALso they broke the Chakravyuh with ease and won the war along with the Pandavas. SO it is inevitable that they are praised.'

Vidur, 'But tatshri, it will trouble in future. Both Yudhistir and Duryodhana will become potential candidates and it will cause problems. It is not good to have competition among the princes for the throne as it will create rifts which will lead to war and other problems. Tatshri, till now we tried to portray Yudhi as the best choice to eradicate any competition so that their will be no competition, no quarrel. But now Dury is also gaining popularity. If he started to think himself as a potential candidate for the throne then it will create more problems for us.'

Kripacharya, 'Vidur, I know that we always wanted to have Yudi on the throne as he is the son of Dharm Dev but that is not the only deciding factor. One who is good in administration has good leadership quality and also valorous can be eligible for the throne. Sorry to say but till now Yudi did not show any of those talents. Yes, he is good in Vedas and Shastras but we still don't know about his prowess in administrative works, he is also not that good as Drona portrayed him in weapons. So we should have a second option in mind.'

Vidur, 'Then what do you want Kulguru? We shall let that bad omen sit on the throne? If Yudi sits on the throne then we will have the support of Dwarka and Kuntibhoj. Also Yudi has Arjun and Bheem. What support does that Duryodhana have? His mother's kingdom is already under us. Gandhari cannot give us anything beneficial for the kingdom. Drona will also support Arjun as he is his best student. So now we need to do something so that Dury will forget about the throne.'

  In Dwarka,

Krishna, 'Vidur, you are wrong. The Kauravas have the support of that person who is going to change their and Aryavart's destiny. As long as he is there, no one can do anything to the Kauravas. As for Pandavas being devputras, I just wonder what will be your reaction when you will come to know about the curse of Suryadev and  the real identity of the Kauravas.'
