...
Duryodhana reached near the lake. He was completely exhausted and injured but he did not want to allow his tiredness to engulf him. He had to take the water with the Lotus flower. When he reached the bank of the lake, it was almost midnight and the moon was shining brightly. He looked at the lake. The water looked so calm and serene but he knew it was just an illusion. He held the locket given by Aditya with one hand and prayed to see the actual condition of the lake. He was shocked by what he saw. The lake was full of snakes and the water was also completely blue because of the poison. This poisonous water was going to cure his father's blindness....how? But still, he knew that Aditya would never tell a lie, and neither would Karna. But the question was how could he reach the middle where the lotus flower was present. He took a stick and threw it on the water, the stick burned out because of the poison. Suddenly Duryodhana felt a pull and the shiv ling flew from his hand and then a huge snake raised its head.

The snake, 'I am Vasuki, the king of serpents. Why are you here. Don't you know this is a sacred lake?'
Duryodhana, 'Pranaam Nagraj, I am duryodhana, son of Dhritarashtr and Gandhari. I came here to take the lotuts and the water to cure my father's eyes.'
Vasuki, 'Only those who are ready to walk on fire to reach their destination are able to reach to the lotus.' Saying he vanished.
Duryodhana, 'I am ready to face everything to reach my destination. But how am I supposed to reach there?'
He tried many things like making a bridge or a raft to reach the lotus but he failed. The poisonous water burned everything. Dejected he just sat and started crying, 'Why...why are you taking such a test God. Please I just want my parents to be happy and you cannot even fulfil such a small wish of mine? My mother js a great devotee of Shiva then why are you helping me?'
Suddenly a light engulfed the area and he saw a goddess. She wore a dress made up of green leaves and her entire body was covered with flowers. She held trident, flower, a branch with green leaves and water filled pot on her hands. Duryodhana readily recognized her. She was none other than Vandevi or Devi Vindhyavasini, the daughter of Dev Vasusen and Devi Niyati and the goddess of all animals, plants and protector of forests.
Vandevi, 'Duryodhana, why are you sad. Lord Vasuki already informed you the way, just ponder on his words and use it.'
