"Hey, Elena" Grace called out as she walked down the stairs declining another call from Caroline who's been persistent on the youngest twin on going to the Halloween party tonight at Mystic Falls High.
After the twins have left the Salvatore boarding house, they spent the day in Grace's room eating ice cream and watching one tree hull re-runs trying to distract them from the reality that there life's will no longer be the same as it once was.
Grace felt awful lying to her friends and family as she was keeping secrets from them but she and Elena knew it was for their safety. The red headed girl knew if the twins would even think about telling anyone Damon wouldn't think twice to kill them and Grace couldn't lose another person that she cares about.
"In here" Elena called out from the kitchen causing Grace to let out a sigh as she followed where her sisters voice came from only to see Jeremy was leaving a voicemail for Vicki and Elena looking at him in worry and concern knowing that it's going to be difficult to get Jeremy to let go of Vicki.
"So, um, do you guys wanna hang out tonight?" Elena asked with a sad smile on her lips trying to distract their brother from the whole Vicki situation, " we could go to the Halloween thing at school, Could be fun"
Jeremy rolled his eyes turning to look at Grace who looked like she would rather go anywhere else making an amused expression appear on his face, " Sure, sounds fun. Hey, are you going?" Jeremy questioned his youngest sister.
"Oh, don't even get me started" Grace began with a groan running her hand through her hair, " Caroline's been blowing up my phone all day. You know, she gave my costume to Aunt Jenna so I can't make an excuse not to go"
Jeremy couldn't help but laugh shaking her head at his sister before turning to face Elena who sighed leaning against the kitchen table and spoke, " I know you're upset about Vicki, I heard she called Matt but you can't be with her. She needs to get better. The best thing you can do for her is let her go"
"What does that even mean, 'let her go?'" He inquired in mock confusion glaring at his older sister, " Oh, okay, sure. Since we're such experts on letting people go, right" Grace couldn't help but send a sympathetic look to her brother as Elena tried to reason with him, " I know you may not see it but trust me, Jer, it's for the best"
Grace looked between her siblings awkwardly before clearing her through and told them, " I'm gonna go get ready for this stupid Halloween dance" the red headed girl walked out of the kitchen to get ready in her red riding hood costume.
Jeremy took a step closer to Elena and explained, " For months after mom and dad died I felt like crap. Like nothing really ever mattered crap. Now all of a sudden, I get these moments and things started to feel a little bit better and Vicki was in every single one of them."
