Dimitri x Kelsee

(This was a request as you can see. This takes place after the books, hope you like it)

I walked down the court halls. I had gotten off duty which was still hard after all with everything that had occurred recently with now Queen Lissa and Rose the place was still in a frenzy. There was always an upside to getting off duty which always made me happy. I had learned that Dimitri and I got off duty around the same time. I was like Rose, young, strong, madly in love and at the academy. I had boundaries and didn't try anything until after I graduated and he had come back from being evil.  Turns out he was with Rose but sometime after the trial Rose told Dimitri they needed to end things because of their positions. It was tough on both of them.

Anyways back to me. We got together and since I don't work right next to anyone it worked out. I made my way to Dimitris room, knocking on the door getting a few looks. It was always weird when we got looks but it didn't get in between us. The door began to open and I came back to the present. The door opened revealing Dimitri, he was still in his guardian uniform, his hair down, and he looked exhausted.

"Hey, comrade how was duty? Can I come in?" I asked, he stepped to the side letting me in.

"It was good, Christian stayed in the castle so I didn't need to go out like Rose and the other guardians for Lissa." he explained walking back to the couch. I joined him laying down and draped my legs over him. I watched him pick up a western novel from the stacks on the table.

"How about you change, these uniforms get uncomfy after a while." I said, he hummed in response but didn't move.  I watched him turn the page, his eyes skimmed the pages and he seemed to relax. I looked around the room, it was a nice upgrade from academy dorms and rooms. I noticed how many western novels he actually had as they filled a shelf.

"I was thinking we could go out sometime," I said. I noticed he paused for a moment before turning the page again and just giving a hum back. "Or we could train later. Together" still nothing. Another page turn, I got up and walked to the window, I could see the sun rising, it was almost time for the Moroi to sleep. Time passed and I sat in silence, I came here to see my boyfriend yet he seemed to like some novel more then me.

"Dimitri, did I do something wrong?" I asked, this caught his attention, he raised a brow.

"Of course not, why do you ask?" He scanned me, I noticed what seemed to be concern in his eyes.

"You're just reading, I thought we would do something, anything but you aren't answering any of my questions or comments." I crossed my arms sinking into the couch like a child.

"I'm sorry Kelsee, I wasn't paying attention I'm getting used to this still." He sighed grabbing my hand. I could see that he felt guilty and I could understand it was new to him.

"It's okay, I know you didn't mean anything by it. You see Rose almost all the time and that must be difficult and then I come here and distract you even more." I said, running my thumb across his hand.

"It's not okay, you're clearly upset, I have been putting my work first and you second. I can't change that but I can be better at balancing you with work." He said pulling me closer.

"I would like that, what do you say to a quick snack and me staying here tonight?" I smiled. He raised a brow before nodding and giving me a kiss.
