Ch 6

It was finally the night of the race. You showed up just a little before midnight and now you were just waiting for Reki to show up. You were wearing your hood and mask making sure no one could see anything but your e/c eyes.

You were having a quiet conversation with Cherry over the phone since he couldn't make it. He had to leave that afternoon for a business trip. He made sure to stop by your practice to say goodbye before he left like he always does.

As soon as you hung up the phone Reki showed up. He had been running towards you apologizing for almost being late. You just waved him off and walked up to the starting line.

Once the light turned green both Reki and you took off down the trail. Reki had gotten a little bit ahead of you, but you weren't nervous about it. That's when the first turn came up. You flipped your board on its side quickly and did a rail slide on the edge of the trail. Reki almost didn't see you pass him, you were going so fast.

To get back on the track you did a 180 ollie, the same trick Reki was trying to master the night before when he saw y/n. He just stared at you in awe, almost losing his balance due to his lack of focus for a moment.

He looked down for a second trying to stabilize himself and when he looked back up the hooded girl was gone. Reki only saw you again once he entered the factory but you were already close to the bottom of the stairs, about to cross the finish line.

Once you did, Reki looked down in defeat. Yeah cool he gets to know who you are but he was bummed that we lost by so much. After he crossed the finish line the crowd started to disperse. They knew that they wouldn't get to see "Midnight's" true identity since Reki lost.

Reki was still sulking off to the side by himself when you decided to walk up to him. Once he turned around his eyes widened, you were looking at him with those beautiful e/c eyes. Your hand was outstretched to shake Reki's. "That was a good match, I had a lot of fun" You were smiling under your mask but Reki couldn't see it. He just sighed, "Yeah but I came nowhere close to beating you".

You giggled a little but came up with a great idea, "How about since you agreed to be my friend, I will teach you what I know about skating?" Reki's face had the biggest smile on it while he was nodding his head quickly.

All you did was giggle again at the boy's antics. It was cute. The slight silence was broken by your phone ringing. "Well that's my cue to leave. Before I go.." You took a slip of paper out of your pocket, "here it's my number. Text me sometime." and with that you left. Reki stood there looking at the paper in his hands. Thinking about how what you said to him before you left sounded familiar.

When you got far enough away you looked down at your phone to see who was calling. The name on the collar ID made you roll your eyes and sigh. Pushing the accept call button and holding the phone up to your ear an agitated "What do you want?" came out of your mouth.
