"So you guys okay, right?" Nate asked, looking nervously between Nick and I.
"Depends on why you ask." Nick smirked.
"Uh because it will be weird if my best friend and my to-be girlfriend's best friend hate each other." Nate said and Emily nodded in agreement. Then he turned to Nick, "E perché non credo che sarò in grado di sopportare che tu sia un cucciolo innamorato di lei mentre fingi di essere arrabbiato con lei."
Again with the change of languages. I am going to kill these idiots I swear.
But before I could interrupt, a voice said, "Chi si sta struggendo per chi?"
Nick tensed beside me as Lila came into view. She smiled sheepishly after she finished serving us with our orders, "Hey. Sorry didn't mean to overstep. Uh I just wanted to apologize for causing any problems. I sometimes can not bite my tongue. It's one of the reasons dad sent me away." she said and then gasped, covering her mouth. "Merda! Not again. See this is what I am talking about."
I wanted to say something but I didn't want to fight Nick for the third time in one day so I held back. Nick took a look at me then sighed, rubbing his fingers on his temple he muttered something under his breath.
He took a deep breath, plastering a charming smile, he said, "No it's alright." He leaned back, his warm breath fanning a side of my face as he whispered near my ear, "The things I do for you." I smiled.
Em then took over seeing as Nick had no qualms about it. She introduced us, "That's Nicholas, Victoria, Nathaniel and I am Emily." she pointed to each.
Lila smiled, "Hey. And as I said, I am Lila."
"Are you new here? I've never seen you around." Nate said, taking a sip of his drink.
"Yeah, I just moved here. Gonna be attending Springfield High." she said.
"No way! We go there too." Em exclaimed. "We're seniors, you?
"Same." she said excitedly then paused, "Oh so I upset people who I could've been friends with." she said sheepishly, glancing around at us.
Nick put his chin on my shoulders, "We can still be friends, just don't hit on either of us again." he said pointing to Nate and himself.
I smiled. The things he did for me indeed.
Lila grinned brightly, "We can?" I nodded. "Thank you. Oh and I promise not to hit on you guys. Sorry for that anyway."
"You wanna sit with us?" Em asked.
Lila smiled but then turned to me, "You don't mind?"
"Not at all. Come sit." I patted the space next to as Nick pulled me towards him to create more space.
"Uh just give me-" she looked at her watch. "-six minutes. I have to dial out. And I'll join you guys."
We nodded as she went back to work.
"Thank you." I whispered to Nick.
"It's not a big deal." He smiled.
"It is. I know you don't like her." I smiled back.
"I don't have anything against her either. I just don't know her and she was the cause of the fight we just had." he shrugged, putting an arm around me and bringing me closer to him such that I was leaning against half of his broad chest and facing the other two who were bickering about something, wrapped in their own bubble.
I sighed happily as I got comfortable in the curve of his muscles. Things were good right now. Maybe not the best but good. We were being normal teenager instead of teenagers who had to solve a murder. It still needed to be done but some days it felt better to just forget everything and spend it with these idiots that I called friends.
