"Wow." Em exclaimed as we recalled to her and Nate our entire weekend.
After a few hours of staying holed up in Nick's room just binging a net series, we came out and spoke to our parents. Nick surprisingly forgave everyone for hiding stuff saying he understood their reasoning.
Come the next day and I was at my home catching up on reading, doing homework. We exchanged a few texts but didn't meet up. Later at night, Nick called me up basically to tell me that he wanted to tell Emily and Nate everything if it was okay with me. I had agreed and we called both our best friends telling them to meet us an hour before school started in the parking lot.
So here we are.
"You guys had a packed weekend, didn't you?" Nate chuckled, "You okay though, mate?"
Nick nodded.
"You?" Emily asked me.
"Sure. We just wanted to tell you guys before you got to know from someone else." I pointed at Nick, "It was his idea actually."
"Well, we are all here to help whenever you need us to." Em gave him a side hug.
"Thanks Em." He hugged her back.
"So what's the plan?" Nate asked.
"For now? Nothing." I replied.
"What do you mean nothing?" Em furrowed her eyebrows, "We know who did this. Demetrius Austers name was on the file. We should do something about it."
"Okay first of all, Demetrius' name wasn't on the pages Sophia found. We only know it was Austers because it had their company logo. And secondly, we don't know if they are even related to the case. It could have been just a business deal too." I explained to her.
"So what? We do nothing?" Nate asked.
"No that's not what she said. I need to do something and I am going to need help." Nick said.
Why do I feel like I am not going to like this?
"What do you need?" Em asked.
"I want to know all about my italian side of the family and I know dad would never agree to it. Neither would Cassie and Will." he added turning to me. "I need your help. Search the net, check out social media, anything."
Yup, definitely don't like it.
"I could ask around, see if anyone knows anything." Nate pursed his lips. Did I mention he's loaded? No? Well he is. Maybe not like Nick but close enough as his dad is a businessman too. So there is an off chance that he might find something.
Em added, "Well I could check the internet and social media."
"Are you sure that this is a good idea?" I asked Nick as we started going towards the school, the other two walking in front of us. "Snooping around? I mean this is literally asking for trouble."
"Maybe, maybe not." He slung his arm around my shoulder, "You don't have to be a part of this, you know? I'll understand if you don't want anything to do with this."
I scoffed, "I became a part of it long before either of us realised and I am not backing out."
"You're the best." He laughed as he pulled me closer and the traitor part of my head sighed in content.
"Tell me something I don't know." I said ignoring the feeling I got whenever he was nearby. "I'll check whichever way I can too, maybe I'll find something in my parent's library. There's a restricted section there, did you know?"
"Thank you, Bella. It means a lot." He kissed my forehead.
Everyone in the classroom looked at us as if we were aliens but I couldn't bring myself to care. My brain being too big of a mush to comprehend anything apart from the fact that he kissed me, well on my forehead but he kissed me, twice in three days now and I liked it.
