By the time it was lunch, I was starving. Emily was standing just outside the cafeteria doors talking to someone. As she saw me, she bid them goodbye and came skipping towards me.

"What's gotten you in such a good mood?" I asked her once we joined the lunch line.

"Nate asked me, well us, to sit with them." she squealed.

"So?" I raised an eyebrow at her.

Now, I know that it is pretty evident that she has a crush on him but whenever I ask her, she always refuses. Well this is payback. I am evil. I know.

"So? So, we are sitting with them." she looked at me, daring to contradict her.

And I did, "Since when do you care about what Nate said?" Yup, pure evil.

"Vic" she whined, stretching the i.

"That's my name. Don't wear it out." I smirked, putting a slice of pizza and a cupcake on my tray.

"Come on. Please can we sit with them?" she pouted. Oh this was fun.

"Only if you tell me why?" I asked, acting all innocent.

"You know, why. I like him, alright. Now can we please sit with them." she pouted again.

"Yes, you lovesick girl." I laughed.

"Hey it's not love." She huffed.

"Yet." I sang the word.

Laughing, we started towards the popular table. When my brother was in the school, we used to sit there, him being popular and all. But Emily and I weren't as close with them as we were with each other. So yesterday we sat by ourselves on another table. Seems like today, we're going right back.

As we neared the table, a particular mop of messy black hair stood out and I stopped. No way. What was he even doing there?

"You know what, you go ahead. I will find a seat somewhere else." I told Em.

"No way, you are coming with me." She dragged me to the table stopping behind a certain boy with electric blue eyes.

"Hey Em, Vic. Come sit." Nate pointed to the only seat available on the table which was very conveniently beside him.

I raised an eyebrow at the guy, "Really Nate? There's only one chair, if you hadn't noticed." I turned to Emily, "You sit, I will find myself another place."

As I turned to go, Nick got up from his seat, pushed me in it and dragged another chair from a table nearby.

The nerve of that boy.

"Now that we all have a seat, can we stop with the dramatics?" He said as he placed it near me and slid down on it. "Bella, I told you, we were sitting together." He smirked.

I rolled my eyes, settling down. Seems like I am sitting here.

"Yup, problem solved." Emily grinned, sitting down.

Nate did the introductions to the ones who were new to the team. Most present on the table already knew us. Then he turned to us as everyone started talking in themselves.

"Through the years I have known you, you never get up from where you're sitting." Nate asked incredulously, looking at Nick as if he was an alien.

Maybe he was, who knows?

"It's Bella." Nick shrugged, like it explained everything.

"Wait, Bella? As in-" Nate shut up quickly as Nick glared at him. They seemed to have a silent conversation of their own.

How long had they known each other for?

Before I could point that out or ask about it, Em asked Nate, "Exactly how do you two know each other?"

Guess I wasn't the only one who picked that up.

"We met at a summer camp a few years back, became friends and kept contact." Nate shrugged, biting into his pizza.

"Yeah. Someone had to save his ass in that place." Nick grinned as he took a fry from my tray.

I hit his hand, "Eat your own." No one touches my fries.

"Now where's the fun in that?" he smirked, again.

I glared at him. What is it with him and smirks? Ugh!

His phone pinged. He took it out and read it. Whatever was on it definitely wasn't good news. All the amusement slid off his face before I could say 'good news'.

He closed his eyes for a second, dragging his hand over his face and cursed softly under his breath. He then typed something back and stood up.

"As fun as this has been Bella, I got to go. We should do this again." He gave me a small smile, nodded to the rest and walked out of the cafeteria.

And once again, I was left wondering what the hell happened? What was that text which made him lose all the colour of his face?

But before I could think more about it, Austin, one of the football players who I was friends with started talking to me about Dan and the upcoming game. As I spoke to him, I couldn't help but wonder how different it was talking to him and Nick.
