I opened my front door a few hours later with Nick in tow. We got in and I heard a familiar voice coming from the kitchen. I rushed towards it.

"Dan?" I exclaimed as the said boy got up from his seat and met me halfway, picking me up in a hug.

"Hey Vic. Missed me?" he grinned.

"Nah." I grinned mischievously and he dropped his to fake hurt. Then he noticed the blue eyed boy behind me and brightened up once again. "Nick." he exclaimed as both of them did some kind of a bro-hug.

"Hey kids." Dad greeted us as he worked in the kitchen.

"Hey." Nick and I chorused back.

"How's Stanford treating you?" Nick asked as we walked to the kitchen counter to sit down, me between both the boys.

"Oh it's great. You guys should come visit me sometime. You'd love it there." Dan replied with a lot of enthusiasm.

I tuned out as my brother, dad and Nick got into football talks. It felt nice to see that all the three important men in my life got along. Even if Nick wasn't anything more than a friend, it was a relief to not see dad bringing out his guns or Daniel threatening him.

Nick had to go back to his for dinner, so he said goodbyes and got up to leave.

"Aren't you gonna walk the boy to the door?" dad pointed out.

"I was going to." I rolled my eyes.

We walked till the car in silence, each in our own thoughts. As we reached the car door, he paused and turned to me, "You leave for school twenty minutes before the bell, right?"

"Yeah." I nodded, "Why?"

"Be ready, I'll pick you up tomorrow." He silenced me as I started to protest, "I will drag you to the car if I have to. So, protesting will get you nowhere."

He leaned in and placed a small kiss on my cheek causing me to flush. Then he got in the car and drove out of the driveway, grinning.

"Oh and Bella?" he called out just before leaving the driveway completely, "You look cute when you blush." he winked.

With that he drove away.

Damn you, Nicholas King.

"So what's going on with you and Nick? Last I heard you still hated the guy

"So what's going on with you and Nick? Last I heard you still hated the guy." Dan asked me as he entered my room.

I closed my laptop and patted the space next to me. Daniel sat down and I told him all about the last few weeks. The case, Monica's big revelation, my feelings for Nick. Everything.

You see having an elder brother who was close to your age was both a blessing and a curse. Though he was overprotective, Dan always made sure my happiness came above all the other things. We shared everything, from crushes to our day to day drama. So opening up to him after so many weeks felt good. Phone calls just don't compare to sitting with him and talking like there's no tomorrow.
