LISA'S POV
"Guess what came in the mail, you guys!" Jennie's mom announces with excitement in her voice. She walks over to us, holding two large packages in her hands and sets them down in front of us.
Jennie and I immediately look at each other, our eyes wide with excitement, because the return address shows the name of one of the colleges we both applied to a while back.
I knew Jennie was going to apply to this college, and for days she tried to convince me to apply as well. She wouldn't take no for an answer. In the end, she won, and I gave in.
Truthfully, I didn't think I would get in at all. But Jennie... she always had faith in the both of us, even when I doubted myself.
"SEE! I WAS RIGHT!" Jennie shouts happily, her grin stretching ear to ear. Her joy makes everyone in the room chuckle.
"Well, hurry up, you two. Open the packages already!" Jennie's dad urges, unable to hide his own excitement.
Jennie tears into her package first, digging through until she finds the thick envelope with the official letter.
She rips it open quickly, and the moment her eyes scan the page, her whole face lights up with pure joy. I don't even need to hear the words to know she got in.
"Open yours! Open yours, Lisayah!" she begs, bouncing slightly on her toes, her energy contagious.
I hesitate, staring down at the package in my hands. My stomach churns with nerves as I carefully open it and pull out the envelope.
I hold the letter in my hands but freeze, unable to open it. "What if I didn't get accepted? What if they don't want me?" I whisper, my voice cracking.
"I'm pretty sure they want you," Jennie's dad chimes in. "Otherwise they wouldn't send a big package."
Jennie's mom immediately elbows him in the stomach, making him grunt.
"Honey!" she hisses, trying to hush him.
But Jennie just laughs softly before looking at me with nothing but love and encouragement. "Lisa, this is the one time my dad is actually right. Of course, the school wants you. You're the most amazing person I know."
Her words give me just enough courage. I take a shaky breath and finally open the letter, reading the first line out loud.
"Dear Lisa, we are proud to inform you that you have been accepted..."
That's as far as I get before I gasp loudly and jump up from the bed in pure joy. Jennie immediately throws her arms around me, hugging me so tightly I can barely breathe, and I cling to her just the same.
Her parents join in afterward, surrounding us with warmth and pride.
"We are so proud of the two of you!" Jennie's mom exclaims with tears glistening in her eyes.
"How about we go celebrate after talking to the doctor and nurses to get Jennie discharged from here?" Jennie's dad suggests, his smile wide and proud. We all nod in agreement.
Jennie's parents step out of the room to find the doctor, and Jennie starts to change out of her hospital gown into her clothes.
"I'm so excited! Aren't you excited?" she squeals, spinning around slightly in her jeans and sweater once she's dressed.
I can't help but laugh at her enthusiasm. She looks like the happiest person alive, and it's infectious. Once she's done, I walk over and wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her close.
"Yes, I'm so excited. I get to graduate and then go to college with the love of my life," I murmur against her ear.
Jennie beams at me, her eyes soft and shining, before pressing her lips to mine in a passionate kiss. She pulls away just long enough to whisper, "I have so much to tell Jisoo."
"She's going to love all the juicy gossip," I tease, wiggling my eyebrows.
"Yup," Jennie giggles. "And I also need to thank her again for pushing me to tutor you."
"Thank God I sucked at chemistry," I laugh, shaking my head.
"Well, it's a good thing you're going to have a chemist girlfriend," she teases back, smirking.
"Can't wait, love. Did you know chemists do it on the table... periodically?" I say, raising my brow with mock seriousness.
Jennie groans and rolls her eyes dramatically, but I can see the corner of her lips twitching upward.
"I love that damn smirk so much," she mutters before wrapping her arms around my neck and pulling me in for another kiss, this one softer, deeper, and full of promise for everything ahead of us.
