Chapter 22 | A Date

It was the next morning from the cook-off, I laid in bed awake thinking about me and Eren's last conversation. he was right about one thing, it is my fault that I care. But why do I care? Could I possibly have other feelings towards eren? that I won't realize? Nah, can't be.

I quickly got off my bed for I won't be thinking anymore. I decided to go on an early run since I haven't in so long. Hitch was still asleep in her bed as it was 5 am.

I changed into my running clothes and went my way to the tracks. Running like 4 laps I started to feel exhausted as this was about to be my last lap.

Soon as I got to the stopping point I walked to the bleachers and watched the sun come up.

Later on in the day, I stopped at the library before Levi's class.

Seeing a notification on my phone I pick it up to see a message from jean. "You busy later? I have a surprise".

"A little but we can meet up before I go into art class"  I texted back. 

"Sounds good" he replied.

Once I got into Levi's classroom I was early. I took a seat as Levi was reading papers. "Why'd you run off the other day," Levi asked.

"Oh, I had to get back to the other table I was sitting at sorry".

"Don't be, not like you made the table any better".

I nodded my head as a response. Once Levi ended class, I felt tired from not getting a nap in and waking up at 5 am.

"A coffee wouldn't hurt," I said to myself.

I walked off campus and walked to the nearby coffee shop. I ordered my usual coffee. Soon as I picked up my order I took a sip from my coffee.

As i was about to leave my eyes looked around the coffee shop.

At a table in the back, i saw eren sitting down, with a girl Infront of him. They had short blonde hair. eren was smiling and laughing with her it stung a bit to see him with that smile with someone else. 

"Guess a coffee would hurt," I said to myself. I walked out and went back to campus.

art class wasn't until an hour but I still went there early and called jean over. As I sat in my seat jean walked in.

"Hey," he said as he sat in Eren's seat. 

"What's the surprise". I said. 

"Whatever happened to "hey, how are you".

"Okay fine, hey jean how are you. Now the surprise".

"Actually the surprise isn't till later".

So what was the point in meeting me now if you're not telling me it? I said. 

"I'm glad you asked that I made reservations back at that sushi place i was wondering if you wanted to come, As a date.

"A date?"

"Yeah," he said scratching the back of his neck. "I get it if you don't want to, i just thought you know since you finally-"

"I'd love to go"

"Really? Did I hear that correctly, maybe I should take out my phone and record you saying this?"

"Oh shut up," I said playfully pushing his shoulder.

"I'll pick u up in 2 hours does that sound okay?"

"Sounds perfect," I said. "Now am I getting the surprise before or after the dinner".
