I blink slowly, not believing what I'm seeing. He's the same. The cold expression. The hate in it. His thins lips, parted in shock, and pink from the sun. His black hair, shaggy and silky at the same time.
His eyes. The same stormy grey eyes that hold so much in them, so much intelligence and emotion. They look back right into mine and my breath catches in my throat.
Why do I have to see him again here, of all places? I haven't prepared myself, my emotions are unstable and I feel like crying, hugging, or beating the crap out of him at the same time.
I clear my throat and turn to fully see him, "Ahem, Hello Captain Levi." I say saluting.
"Edaline. I suppose it's Captain Edaline now though." He says looking back at me, the same expression of shock masking his features.
I nod at him and watch as his eyes shift from my to Eren, who is standing behind me. I turn to look at Eren and watch as his eyes drift from me back to Levi.
"Yeager I though I told you to stay by the stables." Levi says, shock gone and anger replacing it.
I look back at Levi and breathe a sigh of relief. I thought he would've changed after all this time, but he's still the same. Maybe even more unapproachable than ever.
"Well- um, yes Captain but I thought that..." Eren says pausing and placing his hand under his chin while thinking. He stares at the floor for a while before he finishes, "I don't know what I was thinking, but I didn't want to stay at the stables." He says looking up with a smirk on his face.
"Stupid brat." Levi whispers before placing his hands on his hips and looking down while shaking his head. I stifle a laugh as I look between the dumbfounded Levi and Eren, who is smirking.
"Well I guess since your here you can meet Eda- I mean, Captain Edaline." Levi says looking up at me and catching my eyes with his. The smile I had dropped from my face and I turn away from Levi, looking at the titan boy.
I nod at him and smile again, plastering the fake grin on my face. "Nice to meet ya kid." I say.
"I'm not a kid." He says crossing his arms and glaring at me.
"Yea, sure. Whatever you need to tell yourself. How old are you?" I question tilting my head looking him up and down.
"15." He says quietly, turning away from me.
"Exactly my point." I say genuinely laughing. I walk over to him and slap his shoulder. "I'm just messing with you Eren. I know for certain you can hold your own, I've seen it." I say thinking back on the expedition and watching him rage against the female titan.
"Come on." I say wrapping my arm around his shoulders and walking out to the stables. "Let's get going." I say. We walk past Levi and I glance at him briefly, to see a look of anger across his scrunched brow and tight lips.
I ignore him and continue walking, straining to reach up to Erens height as we walk out the doors. He's silent the whole way and I look over to see a faint pink blush rise to his cheeks. I laugh quietly and he looks down at me with a startled look over covers his mouth with the back of his hand. Kids.
We walk to the stables and I spot Killian. My horse. I smile as I walk over to his side and run my fingers through his long black mane.
"That's a big horse." Eren says walking over.
"Really?" I say looking up at him. I grab his head and pet him lovingly. "He looks small compared to other horses." I say silently.
"Well compared to you it looks big." He adds on laughing.
