Inability

Edaline's POV

I look at the door when I hear someone turning the handle. I watch as Hanji walks through the opening and looks around till she spots me right next to her. Her gaze softens as she studies my face.

I look up at her and try to smile. She holds out her hand and I take it. She helps me stand up and I stay silent the whole time. She and I walk back to my room and she sits on my bed and watches me as I get ready.

I walk into the bathroom and the first thing I notice is my puffy bloodshot eyes and the bags underneath them. I cringe at the sight of my own face.

I finish getting ready as fast as I can because I know she's waiting. I didn't have time to dry my hair so I am going to breakfast with it wet. We walk through the doors and I look around at everyone.

There expressions are just like mine. I watch as Emmanuel looks up and spots me, I give him a smile and he gives me a sad one back. It must be hard on him losing his girl.

I look to the left a little and see Jordan. He's still alive. I didn't even think about him. I feel even more guilty. I wasn't even worried if he lived or died.

I feel sick to my stomach. I walk over to Hanji's normal table with her walking beside me. I sit down next to Petra and we make small talk, about unimportant things. I don't eat anything because I know I will just throw it up anyways.

I make myself a cup of tea and sip it slowly, the water burning my tongue. I look up from my cup to watch Levi. He's holding his cup in such a weird way it makes me smile.

He looks up in just that moment to see me smiling at him. I blush and look away. From the corner of my eye I can still see him staring at me.

Levi's POV

Honestly what is up with her? One moment she's confessing how much she likes me, the next she is avoiding me and ignoring me, and now she's blushing at me?

She's really starting to piss me off. And what could she be smiling about? I study her face and notice the eye bags underneath her eyes and the redness on the rims. She must have been crying.

I know she was when we found her with the abnormal titan. She took that thing down with ease, it was amazing to watch. And all the other ones beside it were no different.

Did she lose someone in that group? Well it doesn't matter, we lose people all the time. I'm gonna have to talk to her anyway, there's no way she can avoid me.

"Hey Edaline," I say catching her attention, her mouth opens slightly and I can see that her plump lips are wet, I shiver. "I need you to stop by my office after breakfast, I need some information for my paperwork."

I watch as she slowly nods. I grimace again when I look back up a her eyes. She must be in so much pain.

Edaline's POV

This is the first time ever that he has said my name. He said Edaline, not brat, or idiot, or even dumbass. My name.

I can feel my stomach get butterflies as I watch him. I nod slightly and his expression changes. He looks away quickly and gets up from the table, taking his tea cup with him.
